Rostec and LG: Windows displays with a transparent OLED matrix

2019: Representation of the Window display with a transparent OLED matrix

On July 10, 2019 the LG Electronics company together with Schwabe holding of State Corporation Rostec provided glass with a transparent OLED matrix. "Window display" can replace glazing in trains, at stations and in other public institutions.

Interactive transparent displays ‒ a product which can be used for broadcast of media content of any format on a surface of windows and doors. As necessary the window can switch from the transparency mode in the mode of the color display. In "windows monitors" the matrix on organic LEDs with transparency of 38% from two parties is used. Control is exercised far off from the operator panel and directly ‒ by means of a touch surface. First of all the technology is going to be applied on railway transport.

The prototype became result of the joint work of Schwabe holding entering it Metromedia and LG Electronics companies.

This project – result of technology cooperation with the South Korean company for which it is the first such experience in Russia. LG provides technology of image transfer by means of an OLED matrix, we are responsible for production of a working surface of the display. Such glasses cars of railway transport, in particular, can be equipped with the subway, for example. Automatic equipment of control of the display is configured so that at entrance the screen will independently switch to the platform in the transparency mode, leaving only navigation elements. The Lytkarinsky plant of optical glass which is the Russian producer of hi-tech products from glass, in particular, of fiber glass, large-size astronomical mirrors, space lenses, etc. will become the main production site of the joint project in Russia.
