2016: Announcement

In March, 2016 the Siemens Healthcare company submitted the new software capable to accelerate performing magnetic resonance imaging in neurology.

The Simultaneous Multi-Slice (SMS) EPI application allowing to receive at the same time several MRT-images instead of a series of consecutive two-dimensional pictures therefore the speed of diagnostics increases several times became one of the new products Siemens Healthcare.

Use of Simultaneous Multi-Slice (SMS) EPI allows to accelerate process of carrying out MRT several times

Use of this software will allow to apply a technique of diffusion tensor visualization and so-called BOLD contrast (the contrast depending on extent of saturation of blood oxygen) in daily work of physicians. Simultaneous Multi-Slice (SMS) EPI will help with carrying out neurosurgical transactions, will lower postoperative complications and will increase efficiency of use of resources in the operating room, said in the statement of Siemens Healthcare.

The company also submitted the GoBrain application allowing to conduct high-quality clinical examinations of a brain in only five minutes. The technology is capable to increase the speed of diagnostics of MRT and to cut down expenses on scanning.

It is very important that the visualization methods used for assessment of neurologic diseases continued to develop in high gear as such deviations as weak-mindedness, become more and more burning issue — says to run MRT-divisions of Siemens Healthcare Alistair Piggot. — The new line of MRT-applications is a step forward in development of neurologic radiology and will help hospitals to cope with a flow of patients effectively.

By Siemens Healthcare estimates, by the beginning of 2016 about 20-25% of inspections MRT treats neurology, and this share will increase. For this reason in the company were engaged in development of the new tools accelerating diagnostic processes.[1]
