Skoltech and V2Lab: Technology of express testing of the modules ERA-GLONASS

2019: Development of technology of functional testing of system modules of "ERA-GLONASS"

On November 12, 2019 RVC reported that the Competence center of NTI on wireless communication and Internet of Things based on Skoltech developed technology of functional testing of system modules "ERA-GLONASS" by request of the industrial partner – V2Lab companies. At the beginning of November, 2019 the parties signed the agreement on commercialization of technology. Interaction with industrial partners – an important part of the Program of creation and development of Competence centers of NTI.

Problem of the ERA-GLONASS system – to increase traffic safety. When there are road accidents which are built in modern cars of the ringing circuit of the emergency operational services (RCEOS) should announce in an automatic or semi-automatic mode the event.

However researches of Skoltech and V2Lab company showed that more than a half of these devices do not conform to requirements of the existing state standard specifications or do not work at all. It creates risks for functioning of the ERA-GLONASS system, so, for life and human health.

Such situation developed because the correctness of work of UVEOS is not controlled in use the car as there is neither technique of their express tests, nor the available test equipment for this purpose.

The Competence center of NTI developed the standard regulating a technique of conducting testing of modules at operation of the car at a stage of pre-sale preparation when carrying out maintenance inspection for the solution of these problems and also during pretrip control. Also the technological solution allowing to test all necessary a range was created.

This case demonstrates what stages are gone by technology in Competence center of NTI. At first the industrial partner has an idea based on own and often deeper than at the Center, market vision. Then specialists of the Central Committee of NTI develop the first working prototypes of technical solution and show them to potential final customers. The next stage is a creation of a full-function system together with the industrial partner. In the current project the V2Lab company was engaged in development of industrial design and structural elements for the final solution, and the Central Committee of NTI – a program part. And, at last, the last stage is a commercialization of technology, i.e. a solution output to public market. We consider this experience quite successful and we thank our industrial partner – V2Lab company – for effective cooperation,

Few years ago, delivering a radio metering equipment, we saw need of creation and an output to the market of the inexpensive device for functional testing of the modules ERA-GLONASS. The task included both check of the module by its production, and check of the device which is already installed in the car. Having held negotiations with representatives of NTI Central Committee laboratory based on Skoltech, we entrusted them development of a program part of the device. Also were not mistaken. The received result completely meets our expectations,
