2023: Test Development

The scientific laboratory engaged in developments in the field of molecular biology, genetics and cellular technologies, Sistema-Biotech, on January 31, 2023, announced that it had developed a single test capable of determining in less than 30 minutes the presence of one of eight acute respiratory diseases transmitted by airborne droplets and causing mass infection of people: COVID-19 (regardless of strain), adenovirus, various types of influenza, etc. Only Russian components are used in the reagent kit of this test.

In most cases, when taking a test for a respiratory infection, the patient can only find out whether he has this infection or not. But conventional research does not determine which of the viral infections is present in the human body. To find out, specialists must send a test to a specialized laboratory, obtaining results from which will require a lot of time, "said Artem Sirazutdinov, General Director of Sistema-BioTech. - Our test makes it possible not to do eight different studies for the patient - to determine separately influenza, separately coronavirus, etc., and, having done only one study, immediately determine which of the eight respiratory infections is present in the body, and do it very quickly. This allows the doctor to prescribe therapy in a timely manner and reduce the risk of complications for the patient.

Oropharyngeal or nasopharyngeal swabs taken from the patient are used as samples for the analysis. The study takes only about 15-30 minutes and can determine which infection is in the human body with an accuracy of 97%. The test determines the type of respiratory infection through a colorimetric (color change-based) reaction based on viral RNA isometric amplification (LAMP) technology.
