2019: Use for treatment of dementia

At the beginning of July, 2019 the British-Gambian startup of VR Revival offered the interactive and personalized platform of virtual reality which should help people with dementia. The long-term goal of the project – to improve quality of life both patients, and people who are looking after them and also to increase knowledge of the population of Africa of this status.

According to all available data from the International organization on fight against Alzheimer's disease, to the middle of July, 2019 about 4 million people live in Africa with dementia. This incurable status which affects mental capacities of people, including for memory. However in the countries of Africa, especially in the regions remote from the technology centers very few people know about this disease, and care of patients is most often performed at home by people, not having proper education that reduces quality of life of all involved in this process.

Dementia began to treat virtual reality

The founder of VR Revival of Mansata Kurang wishes to help patients with dementia for what suggests to use virtual reality. Using the VR headset and a large-scale image library and video it intends to provide to patients the personalized platform for social communication and revival of happy memoirs. Trustees can load the application from shop, be connected to Google Cardboard or the VR headset and to provide to the patient completely to plunge into novel or, on the contrary, familiar for a long time, but now the unavailable world.

Staff of the company also holds seminars in nursing homes for patients with dementia to train trustees and to show the product. For those who cannot visit similar seminars the application is supplied with detailed instructions on detection of dementia and medical recommendations.[1]
