Avrora Robotics Lab together with Gruzovichkof Group prepare the "pilotless" car for release

Customers: Avrora Robotics Lab (Avrora robotics lab)

Ryazan; Mechanical engineering and instrument making

Contractors: Gruzovichkof

Project date: 2015/11

On December 14, 2015 the company Avrora Robotics Lab announced agreement signature with group "Taksovichkof" and "Gruzovichkof" joint work over creation of the development center pilotless vehicles.

Project form

Development, creation and start in operation of the unmanned vehicle equipped with the system of the help to the driver (Advanced driver assistance systems — ADAS) are undertaken by Avrora Robotics Lab. The robotic center "Skolkovo" undertook a mission for commercialization of the project. Testing of technology in road conditions will be executed by the companies of St. Petersburg Gruzovichkof and Taksovichkof.

Test starts of the unmanned vehicle are planned for routes and streets of the cities in one and a half-two years. Externally the UAV differs from a usual car, an innovation a little — under a cowl. The vehicles it is going to operate as far off, by means of telecontrol, and it is autonomous, due to "intelligence" of the computer placed in it. It is important that the person at any time can intercept driving personally. The cost of the first cars UAVs will exceed the prices of traditional models. It is the harsh and unshakable law of the market: innovations are paid in many respects by the first consumers. So was also with personal computers, and with mobile phones. It is unlikely for cars UAVs the market will make an exception. However from the beginning of mass release, cost can be only 20% higher, than at traditional cars. At the same time degree of safety of the car, "driving" which is artificial intelligence, will exceed much more analogs on manual control.

Huge intellectual and money resources of the largest companies of the world because behind it the future of the industry of transportations are invested in development of pilotless vehicles. Domestic scientists from design office "Aurora" seriously promoted in this direction, having created the project of the autonomous car. Considering that these vehicles will be safest, accident-free and profitable in terms of economy of forces and energy of the driver, group Taksovichkof and Gruzovichkof decided to support the initiative of domestic innovators.

According to project participants, in the machine UAV the driver acts as the observer and the assistant. If the complexity of a surrounding situation exceeds possibilities of the computer operating the vehicle, for example, there will be problems like a roadwork on a lane or adverse weather conditions, the computer will transfer a wheel to the person. Developers consider that the innovation cars "discipline" traffic, as much as possible increase security and speed of movement.

Cars UAVs will also be able to work with the help of removed operators that will create additional jobs and will change working conditions. Developers of the project claim - the program of remote control will be most focused on the driver and is simple in mastering.

The unmanned vehicle is the future which becomes closer. The market of the intellectual cars connected in a single network only arises. According to the most courageous forecasts, in large quantities on roads of the country these cars will appear not earlier than in 10-15 years. It is very good that the transport company supports initiative of scientists. It is a fine example of synergy of business and science.

Emergence on roads of autonomous passenger and cargo transport at the same time is both threat and an opportunity for all participants of the market of transport and logistics services. Those companies which will manage to capitalize new technology will manage to break away from competitors both due to cost reduction, and due to radical increase in security. It is a world trend, and we are very glad that the significant player of the domestic market of passenger and freight transportation — Gruzovichkof Group and Taksovichkof — decided to develop this direction together with the Innovation Center "Skolkovo" and our participant Avrora Robotics Lab. In the agreement specific projects which are of interest to both participants are specified and can be commercialized both in the domestic market, and in the growing international markets. We work on the maximum involvement of participants Skolkovo in program implementation of Avtonet of the National Technology Initiative".
