60 thousand teachers of Ukraine will give out laptops. Billion allocated for purchase

In July 2021, the Ukrainian government announced a major purchase of laptops for teachers. About 980 million hryvnias are allocated for this.

The order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine spells out the requirements for purchased equipment. It can be a tablet or a convertible computer equipped with at least 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of permanent memory, a screen with a diagonal of at least 10 inches and a resolution of 1900 x 1000 pixels, a processor with a 64-bit architecture and at least two processing cores. The cost of one device will be about 20 thousand hryvnias. Computers will be purchased in 24 regions and Kiev.

Our goal is to make sure that each teacher has his own personal computer, access to high-speed Internet and even more opportunities for teaching children, "said Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov.

According to the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Sergey Shkarlet, all initiatives in the field of digitalization of education are aimed at organizing an appropriate educational process in a pandemic. It is important that teachers have the opportunity to use modern gadgets in their daily work, he added.

The message of the Ministry of Digital Affairs of Ukraine notes that the purchase of laptops will be carried out within the framework of subventions. They can be used on the basis of co-financing:

  • 70% - due to subvention, 30% - due to local budgets for Kiev, regional budgets and budgets of territorial communities, where the population is more than 40 thousand people;
  • 90% - due to subvention, 10% - due to local budgets for urban territorial communities, where the population is less than 40 thousand people;
  • 95% - due to subvention, 5% - due to local budgets for villages, towns, mountain settlements and cities on the contact line.[1][2]
