NVision Group constructed a new storage system for retail chain stores Magnet

In the summer of 2011 NVision Group developed and implemented a new storage system at the central office of one of the largest Russian product retailers of Tander Ltd (Magnet trademark).

As a result the customer received reliable and easily scalable system to data storage which allows to set and service all corporate information systems on a centralized basis. After project implementation the total amount of formatted physical capacity of a System reaches 140 Tbyte (with a possibility of increase to 560 Tbyte). After commissioning of the second server platform the services providing the continuity of business processes of retail chain stores Magnet are implemented.

The director of IT department of Tander Ltd Igor Yudytsky told: "Our retail chain stores actively develop, and include 64 branches, 1 representation, 4,128 shops of a format "at the house", 57 hypermarkets and 4 drogeri shops in 1,239 cities and the settlements of Russia. At a certain stage of development the former storage system ceased to conform to requirements which we impose to the similar systems, and before us there was a task to increase the available volume of disk space for storage of corporate data and reserve copies. The solution deployed by NVision Group will allow our company not to worry several years about expansion of services of reserve and operational data storage.

In the project specialists of NVision Group used technologies of EMC company which provide the maximum simplicity of management of disk space and achievement of optimal utilization coefficient of equipment capacities. These technologies also allow to select "on demand" the resources necessary for work of the applied systems. For storage of backup copies the virtual tape library with technology of deduplication which detects and excludes redundant data in disk storage is implemented. The complex from two EMC Data Domain systems gives the chance to store data on the scheme "more data - higher extent of deduplication".
