The network drives Buffalo belong to two different types. The TeraStation ES and TeraStation III models are NAS servers. The TeraStation III iSCSI model treats devices of a new class which uses the iSCSI protocol for shared access to files. The TeraStation ES storage is focused on users of a home network and small offices. The drives TeraStation III and TeraStation III iSCSI are held for use in small and medium business therefore they are offered as in a desktop, and rack configuration. The network drives TeraStation are equipped only with the proved power sources and fans of cooling and pass preliminary tests on reliability therefore provide quality of work at the professional grade. All of them have 4 compartments for installation of hard drives and are intended for storage of large volumes of data. Support of copying in the RAID 5 mode guarantees reliable data protection. Thanks to a possibility of hot swap and hot backup of TeraStation will automatically disconnect the refused disk without data loss and idle time of a system then the user will just replace the drive.

The replication feature implemented in new servers increases reliability of a system and safety of information even more. It allows to connect one more TeraStation device through the second Ethernet port and to duplicate data, protecting them from machine failures. The user will just switch from one drive to another and will fix problems in real time, having saved network transmission capacity will remain at previous operating level. The payment Dual Ethernet can be also used for capacity growth of network by a join path of ports.

The new TeraStation models support data backup of Time Machine Apple and have a packet of NovaBACKUP Business Essentials on 10 licenses for Windows. It is a powerful tool of data backup for the server and client computers through network. Users can get access to TeraStation through the web browser using the corporate Buffalo WebAccess application. The special version of WebAccess for the appeal to TeraStation and loading of content directly in the mobile device is offered to owners of iPhone, iPad and solutions based on Android.

In new products a number of the functions showing readiness of TeraStation for use in the professional environment is implemented. It is policy of administration of access for users and groups, installation of restrictions of number of the added documents, support of the Active Directory (for uniformity of settings, installation and software updating on all computers of network), print servers and the UPS. Despite it the intuitive interface and the information LED display allow to manage easily devices without special preparation.

The network drives TeraStation differ in care of the environment thanks to support of a number of energy-saving technologies, including data backup on the preset schedule, automatic switch-on and switching off of the device on command from the personal computer. As a result of TeraStation consume on average about 60 W of the electric power in desktop option and 110 W in a rack configuration. The maximum energy consumption is 86 W and 140 W respectively.

Buffalo TeraStation ES (TS-XE)

The device is the available NAS server for a home network or small office and differs in high data transfer rate (up to 62 Mbps). The configuration provides installation of 4 hard drives with a total capacity of 2, 4, 6 or 8 across Tb. Support of the RAID 1 and RAID 5 modes provides reliable data protection in case of refusal any of disks. Thanks to a possibility of hot swap and hot backup it is possible to recover quickly operability of a system without its shutdown and data loss. Plath Dual Ethernet allows to integrate ports or to connect the second TeraStation device for reliability augmentation and system availability.

Buffalo TeraStation III (TS-XTL)

The NAS drive is focused on use in small and medium business. It is distinguished by high data transfer rate (to 69 Mbps) and a possibility of the choice of a desktop configuration or installation in a rack 1U. 4 hard drives the volume of 2, 4, 6 or 8 of Tb are intended for data storage. The safety of information in case of damage of one of disks is ensured by support of the RAID 1 and RAID 5 modes. There is a possibility of hot swap of the hard drive without idle standing of a system, replication feature for connection of the second TeraStation device and a possibility of consolidation of network ports. For installation and setup of the drive the simple web interface is used.

Buffalo TeraStation III iSCSI (TS-IX)

The feature of this network drive intended for small and medium business consists in use of the iSCSI protocol drafted TCP/IP-based for shared access to files. This protocol, in addition to traditional problems of storage, backup and data recovery, allows to integrate geographically remote networks, increases quality and safety of their use. Thanks to iSCSI the uniform technology of connection of storage systems, servers and clients in LAN, WAN and SAN networks is provided. The drive has high data transfer rate (to 92 Mbps), two Ethernet-ports with functions of consolidation and replication, support the different RAID modes and hot swap of disks. Configurations with 4 hard drives with a total amount of 2 or 4 of Tb (desktop version) and 2, 4, 6 or 8 Tb are offered (rack-mounting 1U). All models have the certificate of VMware Ready.

Buffalo TeraStation WS5400R и TeraStation WS5600D

WSS 2012 is intended especially for network devices for data storage in the companies of medium and small business. The solutions TeraStation are directed to optimization of work of the enterprise and the organization effective management of data.

Since June, 2013 in Russia two devices of the TeraStation Windows Storage Server 2012 family will go on sale: TeraStation WS5400R and TeraStation WS5600D. Devices are equipped with four and six disks, with a capacity from 8 to 24 TB. Solutions have advanced functionality and combine the high performance and a possibility of quick access to data.

One of the main advantages of TeraStation WS5400R and TeraStation WS5600D is the Windows Storage Sever 2012 server thanks to which the network drive becomes compatible to all existing versions of Windows OS that allows to make faster and simple deployment and also to instantly use high capacity of storage. The latest SMB3 protocol, and thanks to support of the NIC Teaming application helps exercise effective remote control of files and network devices, bandwidth increases. New devices of the TeraStation family are also equipped with the Intel Atom Dual-Core D2700 dual-core processor with a frequency of 2.13 GHz and 4 GB of memory of DDR3 thanks to what the transmission rate of files and data access from several computers increases at once.

Solutions of TeraStation are integrated with the Active Directory that promotes the organization of automatic access to networks and implementation of management of storage and have function of backup between Buffalo TeraStation and Buffalo Windows Storage Server 2012 TeraStation. The centralized network protection is performed thanks to the NovaBACKUP Business Essentials application using management tools by backup copies.

Devices also have function of "hot swap" that promotes prevention of idle time of a system. Thanks to this solution TeraStation can automatically disconnect the refused disk. After that it can be replaced, at the same time data will not be lost. The possibility of planned shutdown of the device serves for prevention of unauthorized access to disks and reduction of energy costs.

Buffalo TeraStation 3000

A series of high-performance NAS TeraStation 3000 created especially for the enterprises of small and medium business works at the same time as NAS and iSCSI. Solutions are combined by true Japanese quality and high technical characteristics, such as processor of the last generation and the improved basic complete set. Besides, TeraStation 3000 provide users with the maximum data protection thanks to a possibility of replication of files, function of processing of failures and a possibility of recovery using the USB drive. Devices are delivered both in desktop, and in rack configurations.

Storages of the TeraStation 3000 series are created especially for small offices and also the companies with the developed branch network which need the highly effective and economic data warehouse. Solutions are equipped with the powerful Marvell ARMADA Dual-Core processor and 1 GB of RAM of DDR. RAID and data protection

When installing several disks the user can integrate them in an array of RAID. Modes 0, 1, 5, 6, 10 depending on requirements are available. Function of hot swap will allow to change disks in the RAID mode without the need for shutdown. In addition, the device allows to perform planned backup and replication of files on other NAS. The storage also supports cloud service Amazon S3, allowing to integrate your cloud and network storages. Buffalo TeraStation 4200

Especially for small, average and also Buffalo Technology companies branches developed the highly effective two-section TeraStation 4200 body allowing to store safely up to 8 TV of data. Buffalo TeraStation 4400

The solution TeraStation 4400 of Buffalo Technology company was developed especially for those users, it is important to whom to have an opportunity independently to scale the data warehouse. TS 4400 allows to set from one to four disks, thereby increasing the capacity of the device and increasing its performance. The solution is compatible to the hard drives SATA with an III capacity of 1,2,3 and 4 Tb.

If the device is equipped with two and more disks, the user can integrate them in an array of RAID, thereby having even more increased performance. 5 RAID modes are available: 0, 1, 5, 6 and JBOD depending on quantity of the set disks.

The Intel processor Atom D2550/4 of a flow based on which TeraStation 4400 is created promotes the accelerated file transfer and a possibility of receiving more quick access to them from several devices. 2 GB of high-speed memory of DDR3 and USB interface 3.0 provide superhigh-speed data transmission - to 5 GB / page.

2014: Buffalo TeraStation 5000

On February 19, 2014 the Buffalo Technology company announced the beginning of sales of corporate storages TeraStation 5000 on the basis of Windows Storage Server 2012 R2, in Russia.

Devices are compatible to all current versions of Windows and are focused on the companies of small and medium business using a file server of Windows. Drives are provided both in desktop, and in rack configurations with a capacity up to 24 Tbyte.

Network storages of the Buffalo TeraStation 5000 series are created based on the Intel processors ATOMD2550/D2701 with a frequency of 2.13 GHz and 4 Gbytes of memory of DDR3 that significantly increases performance, the speed of reading and file transfer, data access from several devices at once. NAS devices are equipped with SMB3 protocol providing effective management of files and network devices. Besides, in Buffalo TeraStation 5000 the NIC Teaming technology integrating up to 32 network adapters Ethernet that will increase bandwidth is implemented.

Storages use two major versions of Windows Storage Server 2012R – Workgroup and Standard. The system of the initial WSS 2012 Workgroup level supports up to 50 connections of users, one processor and up to 32 Gbytes of RAM. WSS2012 Standard represents the expanded option which is allowing to connect any number of users and processors and not having restrictions for amount of memory.

Drives of the TeraStation 5000 series support the RAID 1 and 5 modes that in combination with mirroring provides reliable data storage even in case of refusal one of disks. Besides, functions of hot swap and hot sparing are provided in devices by means of what TeraStation can automatically disconnect the refused disk and switch to reserve without stopping processes.

The line of TeraStation 5000 supports the Active Directory that centralizes file management and automatic access to network, provides security policies. As a part of storage NovaBACKUP Business Essentials preset by software, it supports centralized operation by backup processes. NAS provide remote replication of files through DFS and their storage on others TeraStation series devices, USB drives and HDD. Devices are equipped with four ports USB (two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0).
