In Muztorg system implementation of WMS is complete

Columbus IT implemented the WMS system implementation project on the Dynamics AX MS platform in network of musical shops "Muztorg"

Solution

In the summer of 2011 specialists of Columbus IT company completed the first stage of start the WMS system based on Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 in network of musical shops "Muztorg". The analysis of the main business processes of the central warehouse of the retail company was carried out, the project documentation on implementing solution is developed and approved.

Implementation time was compressed: a new system was brought into operation in three months. The management of "Muztorga" made the decision not to stop work of a warehouse for the period of migration on WMS that imposed additional obligations on a project team. "The Columbus IT command from first minute of communication convinced us of the professionalism and examination. So we were sure that start of a system will be smooth, and risks are minimized. And now, upon completion of the project, we are completely satisfied with results of our cooperation", - Konstantin Chebotaryov, the director of information technology of Muztorg company says.

The WMS system developed and implemented by specialists of Columbus IT based on the Microsoft Dynamics AX platform practically did not require additional modifications. Systems capabilities on setup of algorithms and operation modes allowed to reach required functionality in the shortest possible time. In a warehouse the bar code equipment, in particular, terminals data collections became active to be used that allowed to lower requirements to personnel, to unify transactions and to increase their accuracy. The warehouse management system from Columbus IT automatically selects necessary store cells and prints tasks for placement.

Accomplishment of warehouse tasks is personified: the employee receives a route of placement or a complete set of products with indication of a cell in electronic form necessary for it through a radio-frequency data collection terminal. All operations on acceptance, storage and shipment of goods, including results of execution of a route of complete sets and moving of goods to a shipment zone, are fixed in WMS when reading barcodes of the corresponding products. The personified accounting of warehouse transactions allowed to implement a piece-work pay of warehouse workers.

The main project deliverables of system implementation of the class WMS in the distribution center of Muztorge are as follows:

• Acceptance of deliveries with placement to rack storage is made on average 2.5 times quicker (of 2 days till 6 o'clock now).
• Significantly the reliability of placement of goods and assembling accuracy of orders increased. Prior to the beginning of the project two-three orders daily left to clients not fully completed, after implementation of such orders there were no more than ten in a month.
• The cumulative assembly time and control of orders for shipment was reduced by 45%.
• Requirements to qualification of personnel are reduced. Earlier the unique specialist with expert knowledge of a product line and good visual memory was a picker in the warehouse "Muztorga". Now the picker – the punctual employee armed with the terminal of assembly of data and working at a price-work basis.
