"MUEC" applies the protected VPN cloud on the Internet

The Cisco company provided integration of two new divisions of JSC Moscow United Energy Company into corporate network based on the DMVNP technology allowing to organize the protected VPN cloud on the Internet.

Final solution

Use of a cloud technology guarantees privacy and integrity at data transmission and helps to unroll an address space of VPN/MPLS, giving to remote offices the accessibility to all services of the MOEK corporate network built on allocate circuits.

The corporate multiservice network (VPN) of JSC MOEK consists of 230 objects and uses communication channels with capacity from 2 to 20 Mbps. The central node concentrates 13 virtual networks (VLAN) with the general capacity of 1 Gbps. Capacity of data transmission channel for Internet connection – 100 Mbps. Regular traffic which covers access to web resources and corporate mail is constantly transferred to networks and provides interaction of automated systems.

"After creation in 2008 to corporate multiservice network for JSC MOEK there was relevant a question of providing to new remote objects flexible access to it. Still this problem was solved by two methods: or the main provider of the company built an optical communication link, or resources of local provider of communication were used and the joint with the basic was organized. However in process of growth of number of new objects of JSC MOEK laying of communication channels became unprofitable on financial and temporary performance. As you know, connection by joining of channels, in addition to high cost, is connected with a set of administrative difficulties and is unprofitable, so far as concerns considerable number of objects. For this reason we made the decision to integrate new offices, using a cloud technology of DMVNP based on the equipment Cisco", – the associate director of Branch No. 17 of the Center of information technologies of JSC MOEK company Ivan Ananich comments.

On remote platforms according to new model of connection routers of the Cisco 2800 series are installed. The central node is equipped with two Cisco ASR 1000 routers. Existence of the main and duplicative devices allows to save availability of all services to remote offices even in case of failure of one of routers.
