The Vestkoll company protects corporate data the solution of Symantec

The Softline company completed an implementation project of a comprehensive multilevel protection of corporate network based on solutions of Symantec in division of Vestkoll company.

Background

The company has wide network of regional representative offices, the customer and partner base of VEST KOLL LTD Ltd is calculated by tens of the large organizations. Business of the Vestkoll company working at the market of telecommunication services is directly connected with vigorous activity on the Internet, so, requires a reliable comprehensive protection of all elements of corporate infrastructure and information resources of the company.

Project

The following tasks were set for a project team of Softline:

• minimization of undesirable mail traffic; protection of workstations, notebooks and mobile devices against the malware;

• ensuring secure access to corporate resources for the mobile staff of the company;

• backup and recovery of corporate data and resources in case of failures and damages.

Solution

The command of Softline suggested to implement the complete solution from Symantec company which is completely meeting requirements and the client's wishes: it has flexible and modular architecture and also a possibility of centralized operation.

Project implementation was enabled in several stages. At the initial stage preproject examination of the existing information system of the company by the principle of "As is" ("as is") was conducted as a result of which the current volume and intensity of information flows was estimated at the companies, requirements to the equipment, the software and level of their service, taking into account observance of rules of the accepted security policy are described.

At the second stage work on installation and setup of a complex of solutions of Symantec was carried out:

• Symantec Protection Suite which provided a comprehensive protection of endpoints (Symantec Protection Suite Enterprise Edition for Endpoints), e-mail (Symantec Mail Security for Exchange) and web traffic (Symantec Web Gateway);

� Symantec Protection for SharePoint Servers which provided protection of the SharePoint server against penetration of the infected files; � Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery Desktop Edition allowing to perform backup and data recovery with a possibility of conversion of physical mediums in virtual and vice versa. Setup of program enciphering of backup copies using an algorithm of AES is made for protection of important business data.

At the final stage specialists of Softline held testing of installed solutions and prepared a packet of the project documentation. Project implementation allowed to achieve the following results: simplifications of management of the customer's IT environment thanks to complexity and integration of the solution; automatic confirmation of conformity of IT policy of Vestkoll company to regulatory requirements; decrease in a downtime and breaks in work of employees; achievements of 99% spam filtering and significant reduction of number of false operations (on average 1/1,000,000) when filtering e-mails.
