Partners of SAP begin sales of mobile applications

SAP started promotion of mobile applications from Sybase company. Development of own software on the basis of Sybase is allowed partners, but analysts doubt their readiness for such step.

The partners SAP selling a set ERP Business All-in-One and the software Business Objects can offer clients mobile technologies and applications now from Sybase. The company SAP last week reported about it.

Since that moment as SAP purchased Sybase last year, the last advanced on the market several mobile applications, in particular - Business All-in-One intended for the companies of the small and medium size. Partners of SAP managed to optimize as much as possible this system for different industries.

Friedrich Neumeyer, the senior vice president of SAP, noted that partners of the company will be able to advise clients on all specialized business processes, but in the context of mobility.

According to the official statement, SAP Afaria – a set of software of mobile device management and security, the platform of mobile development Unwired and couple of applications providing points of entry in Business Suite and CRM (customer relationship management) for mobile users will go for sale. It is also allowed to partners to use Sybase technology for development and sale of own services and applications.

Despite the general positive impulse of the statement, the independent analyst Jon Reed points to some nuances in the events. According to him, the average partner (on the product Business All-in-One) does not intend to undertake development of mobility. "Partners in implementation of mobile applications understand it, but whether they know Business All-in-One - other question", - Read emphasized.

And the Optimal company, for example, is well prepared, Elliott Garofalo, the senior vice president of the company considers. The company began to conduct surveys of a large number of regular and potential clients still before SAP purchased Sybase. "Then all wished to tell about mobility, even the small companies", - he emphasized. Optimal is going to deliver sets of mobile applications and software according to individual customer orders, Garofalo told.

He also noted that for clients it is extremely important to find out long term of mobile plans: "We speak, you should think on a substantial scale, but it is worth beginning with small, with mobility perspective".

According to Newmeyer, SAP positions mobile software from Sybase as "business platform" for the partners: "If they create the mobile independent product, they will be able to resell it as own development. We will not levy any a royalty".

SAP, according to Newmeyer, will focus generally on creation of mobile applications for the purpose of application in many industries, but, most likely, in some verticals of the industry.

Discussing the statement of SAP, Garofalo is not concerned by the possible competition to SAP of mobile software at the front. In particular he noted: "Real joint efforts were made to be convinced - we do not step each other on heels, we do not lose on development of means. The purpose in creation of not competing products".
