PaperPort 14

The Nuance Communications company submitted the new version of the solution PaperPort Professional 14 intended for scanning of paper documents and their convenient input in electronic document management systems. The PaperPort 14 system offers the same functions familiar to a great number of users according to former versions, only in the expanded and improved type: fast and convenient scanning, clear systematization of documents, extensive support of the PDF format and also communication with network folders and applications. Except already familiar functions, the new version of PaperPort 14 offers couple of new products which allow a product to follow two most current trends in personal and business applications – mobility and cloud computing.

The increased speed and convenience of scanning are provided by new superstructures of Scan-and-Open (to scan and open) for function of fast scanning One-Click. Function of the accelerated scanning supports practically any input devices of images with the TWAIN, WIA and ISIS interfaces now. As a result at fast scanning provides much more high image quality and text recognitions – the gain of accuracy makes up to 34%. Compression of documents using an algorithm of PDF-MRC allows to generate the PDF files of 8 times in size less, than the normal PDF files without compression. Navigation on archive of documents is facilitated by new representation in the form of folders, support of the standard Windows context menu and also support of lists of transition in the Windows 7 operating system.

Among other important differences of the PaperPort 14 system support more than 20 "cloud" services is especially selected, including Google Docs and Evernote, plus own cloud and mobile service of Nuance PaperPort Anywhere. The PaperPort Anywhere service allows subscribers to save automatically documents from the computers in a cloud, and then to address these documents through the PaperPort 14 program in the environment of Windows, via any web browsers and also using free mobile applications for devices Apple iPad and iPhone, or for devices with the operating system Android.

Also It should be noted a new feature under the name PDF Hover Notes ("floating" notes for the PDF files). Now in a packet of PaperPort 14 much more information is available to the user during the overview of the PDF documents in folders in the form of icons – in the upper left corner of an icon of the document the large indicator showing that this file contains a key word and the short description is displayed. Having guided a mouse pointer at such icon, you can see pop-up dialog with the description, without opening the file.
