In the USA the government project of opposition to cyber attacks gains steam. Among participants there are inernet-providers, government contractors, federal agencies and commercial enterprises.

The pilot program of the U.S. Department of Defense (Department of Defense - DOD) informing on cyber-threats within one and a half months stopped "hundreds of invasions", the Deputy Minister of Defence of the USA this week reported.

The Defense Ministry is going to expand soon a framework of the experimental program of defense and industrial base (Defense Industrial Base - DIB) as a part of which now 20 participants. In plans - to extend it to the rest of the industry and also to "key areas of critical infrastructure". About it participants of the Industrial Forum of Data protection of customers were told by the Deputy Minister of Defence of the USA William J. Lynn (William J. Lynn) on Tuesday in Baltimore.

In June the ministry started the program within which organizations work with contractors of DOD, sharing information on threats for stabilization of work of networks. "Against the background of the growing number of threats we have an opportunity to promote strengthening of the existing means of cyber defense of these companies", - said to Leann, having added that the pilot project "also is cost-efficient".

He reminded citizens that the program has a voluntary nature, and emphasized that it does not interfere with someone's private life because federals not "monitor, do not intercept, do not store data from the sector of commercial communications". Leann pointed to the careful study which is carried out within DIB for an intrusion prevention. According to him, participants of the program exchange and load signatures of the malicious codes received at a research of the operating systems to increase the level of their cyber security.

It is not told about the acting participants of the program, and the press secretary of the Ministry of Defence refused to call them. Nevertheless, in the report published by the Washington Post edition AT&T, Verizon and CenturyLink are called as the Internet service providers participating in the program, and Lockheed Martin, CSC SAIC and Northrop Grumman as participating contractors.

The DIB project is result of joint efforts of the Ministry of Defence and Department of National Security (Department of Homeland Security - DHS) while the National Security Agency (NSA), at the request of the Ministry of Defence, provides technical advices and information for protection of cybersystems.

The present U.S. Administration makes active efforts for work with the commercial sector on a number of technology fronts, and cyber security - key area of cooperation. The department of national security, for example, already shares data on cyber security with some Chief information officers from the commercial sector, but by means of other program begun last year.

Information on the pilot project initiated by DHS for the first time publicly was read in March, 2010 at the RSA conference in San Francisco (USA). Then it became known that in 2003 DHS together with Ministry of Justice created network of the centers which integrate and coordinate anti-terrorist information and data obtained from government agencies and business companies. According to statements of DHS, throughout 2004 and 2008 financial periods more than $327 million for financing of these centers were spent. Today them there are more than 70.
