The IBM corporation announced project completion on upgrade of a hardware platform of "The West Siberian commercial bank". The new information infrastructure based on high-end of the Power 780 servers and storage systems of Storwize V7000 implemented by group of Khosta company allowed bank to increase computing power more than by 4 times, says IBM. The contract for project implementation was signed between Zapsibkombank and Khosta Group with active participation of office IBM in Yekaterinburg.
Zapsibkombank is large bank of Siberia which network covers 56 divisions. At a stage of active expansion of a branch network the management of IT department of bank faced risk of shortage of computing powers for operational work of the key banking application — the automated banking system Outpost. With respect thereto the decision on upgrade of information infrastructure of bank was made.
"Technological leadership — one of key competitive advantages of modern bank — Andrey Sidorov, the vice president of Zapsibkombank noted. — One of our strategic priorities is operational efficiency therefore we selected the IBM Power Systems platform which is capable to support significant growth of load of the main banking systems. The project implemented by Khosta Group completely met our expectations: for example, the critical procedure of closing of trading day of bank was reduced from 4 to 50 o'clock minutes".
Two Power 780 servers and two storage systems of Storwize V7000 were a part of the new hardware-software platform. The equipment of IBM became a core of the 2-nodal cluster of high readiness guaranteeing to bank the necessary level of fault tolerance and performance. Zapsibkombank exercises data backup and automatic control of storage systems using the software tools IBM Tivoli. Thus, the platform implemented by specialists of Khosta Group provided smooth functioning of the main core banking system of Forpost Bank, noted in IBM.
The contract for project implementation was signed in April, 2011. The project was complete by the end of the second quarter 2011.
