Scott McNealy, the ex-company executive of Sun, could hold a position of the CEO of Hewlett-Packard if there was no suitable candidate.

The former chairman and the chief executive of SUN Microsystems Scott McNealy could agree to management of Hewlett-Packard if it was asked, McNealy this week told. According to him, he was one of candidates for this position.

Let's remind, Meg Whitman, the former chief executive of eBay got a post. "I was invited to an interview, and I answered that I would get to work if they did not find the suitable candidate", - McNeeley on Wednesday, in an interview said. - Their office is in three miles from my house. I know this business, at me in Sun is complete of people who would come to the rescue of me".

However, management of HP is not absolutely what it aims at. McNeeley spoke in the sense that six years ago he refused very good work, meaning the leaving from a position of the CEO of SUN Microsystems in 2006. But, according to him, it would accept the offer of appointment of the CEO of HP, in particular, because of "feeling of commitment to Silicon Valley".

The Board of Directors of HP is constantly criticized because of its solutions and appointment of the CEOs in recent years. Last year after the scandal caused by the claim of sexual harassments Mark Hurd was dismissed and Leo Apotheker, the former top manager of SAP who showed ambiguous results in this company is appointed.

The choice Whitman, not having work experience in the large company on production of hardware, was also some surprising. Nevertheless, McNeeley publicly supported it, saying that in this position it will provide "much-needed stability".

McNeeley - one of founders of Sun company in 1984. He headed it within 22 years. In the history of Silicon Valley it is the longest term of presidency in the company. From a duty of the CEO it was released by Jonathan Schwartz, and McNeeley held a post of the chairman of the board of directors of Sun until the company was purchased by Oracle.

It managed to turn Sun into multi-billion business. For this purpose it used increase in demand for Unix servers during a boom of development of web in the world, also providing with the server hardware banking sector. Nevertheless, under its management Sun slowly reacted to the changes which happened in IT market and results it began to decrease under pressure of the growing popularity of servers of Intel and the open source software.

On Wednesday McNeeley started new business, a game social startup under the name WayIn where it performs management. He is also the board member of Curriki, the non-profit organization publishing textbooks and other training materials for free access on the Internet.
