That the AFK Sistema subsidiary company — Navigation-Information Systems (NIS-GLONASS) will directly be responsible for creation of a monitoring system of the Moscow city land transport, the CEO of the company Alexander Gurko told RBC daily. "Tender of the Moscow government for creation of ITS (intelligent transport system. — RBC daily) on 6.2 billion rubles the Sitronics KASU company won, we will implement a part of this project — control of land passenger transport, its cost — 1.9 billion rubles. Within this project each Moscow bus, the trolleybus or the tram will be equipped with the equipment GLONASS/GPS, transport monitoring system will also be organized" — Mr. Gurko says.

Also this year we will create uniform dispatching service on monitoring and control of transport — Alexander Gurko continues. — Within the same project the company intends to create the system of informing passengers on the movement of land transport taking into account traffic jams. We already made programs for iPhone and Android where routes and arrival time of each type of transport are specified any of stops. Applications will appear in AppStore next year, and at stops information displays where it will be specified how many minutes remained before arrival of the bus or the tram will be placed.
Michael Weber, the CEO of Kapsch company which is engaged in creation of intelligent systems on transport in Europe, believes that introduction of a similar system of tracking can reduce traffic jams by 30 — 40%. "Ourselves integrated the similar systems in the different European cities and we can authoritatively tell that the result really impresses. But it does not occur in one step, the effect will be visible in several years" — the expert considers.
At the beginning of this year the Government of Moscow decided that in the city it is necessary to create an intelligent transport system which could save the city from traffic jams, direct city transport and traffic lights. The project was charged to "subsidiary" of AFK "Sistema" — Sitronics (it won the tender for 6.2 billion rubles). For this money the company promised to create telecommunication and IT infrastructures, to organize data processing centers and also to develop software for the analysis of information coming to these centers and to cope with traffic control of land transport.
