The next version of the browser of Opera Software company will be supported by graphic hardware accelerators. This approach which producers aim to use in the browsers includes new opportunities, reduces the battery life of accumulators and also increases performance at an output of pages to the screen.
According to Jan Standal (Jan Standal), the vice president of Opera company for desktop products, "everything accelerates". In particular, hardware acceleration of work of cascading style sheets (CSS) when implementing transitions and animation means, drawing of Canvas 2D and the text, he emphasized. Opera 12 will support 3D technology - diagrams of WebGL, also accelerated hardware.
Eventually, such approach will lead to bigger "revival" of pages in network, Haakon Wium Lie, the director of technologies of Opera company and the founder of CSS foretold. "By means of 3D, with hardware acceleration we will be ready to processing of a number of new content types, - he told. – I think, games will be on the first place".
The alpha of Opera 12 should appear on Thursday. And the final version should be ready later, this year, Christian Krogh, the director of Opera of development told.
Microsoft stimulated implementation of hardware acceleration for the browser IE9, but it requires Windows Vista or Windows 7. Standal noted that Opera hopes to reach much bigger, including on other operating systems, including Windows XP.
The WebGL technology which is initially created by Mozilla company and the organization for development of the Khronos Group standards managed to get support of all main producers of browsers except Microsoft. It negatively affects use of technology by developers of games who could create the web applications with its support.
One of such developers - the Rovio Mobile company which gained fame after creation of the game Angry Birds. Saar Saara Bergstrom, the head of division of interaction with consumers and to social marketing, nevertheless, considers that Microsoft will join community soon, and it could facilitate efforts of the company on a scope of all types of screens. "I am sure that they will join WebGL in the future", - considers Bergstr.
Li considers that Microsoft starts every time with a clean slate when it comes about support of web standards. "When they saw that their positions weaken, they were very quickly included into community on assistance to standards, - Li told. - I do not think that they are interested in an idleness in relation to WebGL. I think, will join soon".
In Opera 12 will be the new syntax analyzer HTML5 which functionality will bring the Opera browser into accord with the new standard of processing of the code for web pages. The compatibility of viewing pages in network that web pages in all browsers looked equally should be as a result improved. Besides, Opera 12 will receive the processed JavaScript engine, told Krog.
