Content

For the trading company stability of work of information systems is crucial. It, in particular, is connected with aspiration as fast as possible and accurately to execute customer orders among which civil engineering firms prevail. Company STD "Petrovich" provided the first in St. Petersburg delivery of construction materials within four hours. So fast service requires smooth operation of a corporate system. Such work is hardly possible at experiments with DBMS with which the few specialists are able to work.

Situation

The last cardinal modifications in IT infrastructure of STD "Petrovich" are caused by generally rapid growth of a business volume. The former corporate system constructed based on "1C: Trade management 7.7", did not cope with promptly increasing flow of the processed data. Besides, the lack of a common information space was its essential shortcoming — in the company several information bases which are not connected with each other were used.

Company STD "Petrovich" remained correct to solutions of 1C and passed to more powerful system — "1C: Trade management 8.2". Along with this transition it was required to replace the version of DBMS: instead of MS SQL Server system 2000 used before it was set to the MS SQL Server of 2005. Over time arguments for benefit of the solution of 1C became even more, than at the initial choice. Version 8.2 "1C: Trade management" is essentially new system which does not concede on functionality to foreign analogs (in any case, on the functionality necessary for STD "Petrovich"), but at the same time is much cheaper. At it not only the implementation cost, but also ownerships is much lower.

Advantages

With preference of 1C the choice of a data management system of the MS SQL Server was actually predetermined. Theoretically as an alternative PostgreSQL, IBM DB2 and Oracle Database could be considered. It is possible to use all these DBMS with "1C: Trade management 8.2". However detailed comparison was not required.

"The choice of the MS SQL Server is caused several by the reasons. First of all, creation of a corporate system based on other DBMS would be serious risk for us. The matter is that implementations of our scale "1C: Trade management 8.2" with PostgreSQL, IBM DB2 or Oracle in Russia is not enough. We did not see any sense to be the first" — the CIO of STD "Petrovich" Andrey Matveev.

Besides, under system implementation based on other DBMS involvement of dearer specialists because the popularity of these systems in Russia is much lower, than at the MS SQL Server is necessary. It would be required to provide additional training of the employees also.

"We, perhaps, will replace a data management system, but as option we consider only the next version now — the MS SQL Server of 2008. However we do not see need for such transition yet. We accept high-speed performance of the MS SQL Server 2005 and also convenience of service — implementation of backup and the solution of other routine tasks of the system administrator" — Andrey Matveev says.

Solution

The corporate system of STD "Petrovich" is constructed based on standard solutions of 1C company — "1C: Trade Management 8.2", "1C: Accounting", "1C: Payroll and HR Management" using specialized solutions "BIT: Management accounting" and "BEAT-NOVA: Management of transport logistics" which are developed by 1C: Accounting and Trade company (BIT) which is the partner of 1C. CIS ensures simultaneous operation up to 500 active users with one information base ("1C: Trade Management 8.2"). As DBMS it is set to the MS SQL Server of 2005.

Totally implemented system integrated in a common information space about 100 units of a retail store equipment and also more than 15 servers from which 10 — terminal, 2 servers under "1C: Enterprise 8.2" both 2 database servers and spare equipment. In a new corporate system 4 information bases: "Trade management" (volume of 60 Gbytes, 500 users), "Trade management (central)" (59 Gbytes, 100 users), "Managerial, accounting and tax accounting" (72 Gbytes, 80 users). Besides, within implementation "1C: Trade Management 8" salary and personnel management (4 Gbytes, 50 users) was finished ".
