IBS Platformix executed the project on creation of virtual IT infrastructure for Mosvodokanal

The IBS Platformix company executed the complex project on creation and commissioning of virtual IT infrastructure for MGUP "Mosvodokanal" – the providing high-quality drinking water and the reliable system of channeling more than 13 million residents of the Moscow megalopolis. The implemented solution will allow to cut down the expenses connected with providing a server framework, to increase its controllability and fault tolerance.

Mosvodokanal continuously and qualitatively provides to Muscovites services of water supply and channeling. Today activity of the enterprise is inconceivable without use of automated information systems. From their reliable work including, the quality of the rendered services depends, – Konstantin Hrenov, the First Deputy CEO of MGUP "Mosvodokanal" notes. – Eventually former infrastructure ceased to correspond to our growing requirements not only in terms of sufficiency of resources and performance, but also in respect of efficiency. The implemented automated information systems and services, require new hardware resources and their mutual integration. Provide these requirements by simple physical accumulation of number of servers becomes unpromising in terms of fault tolerance, management efficiency, the areas for placement and energy efficiency. Transition to modern innovative technologies and the equipment was necessary".

The complete virtual infrastructure capable to adapt flexibly to again arising requirements and tasks was designed and developed for Mosvodokanal. The implemented solution includes three main components: computing platform, storage system and data transmission system. Infrastructure management is exercised using one of the best solutions in the market of hypervisors.

Moreover, as a result of performance of work will reach the expected economic effect: on the new virtual platform comparable on the power (processors, RAM) with the released equipment, it is possible to place not less than three times bigger quantity of new information resources and systems.

Transition to virtual IT infrastructure allowed to receive several advantages:

• the increased fault tolerance;
• independence of servers of type of the hardware on which they are executed;
• opportunity at the same time to use a set of different information systems on one physical server;
• transparency of interrelations between systems;
• the simplified monitoring of server capacities and opportunity to manage quickly resource allocation and load of servers;
• ability to manage all virtual machines from uniform point of entry;

decrease in electricity consumption.

Further the implemented solution will allow to use advanced technologies of virtualization of jobs using thin clients and virtualization of office applications and desktops.

In implementation process of the project by IBS Platformix company specialized trainings and training of specialists of MGUP "Mosvodokanal" who gained the necessary volume of knowledge and practice for further operation, ensuring working capacity and administration of new virtual environment of the enterprise were provided.
