DWH on the AVRORAID platform on STB TV channel

On the Ukrainian STB television channel, the third among channels of Ukraine on an audience scope, within implementation of a new system of operational preparation of format projects 10 storage systems on the AVRORAID platform are delivered.

Specifics of video production – collective (up to 10 mounting stations MacPro Apple) simultaneous operation with one material (FCP v.7, animated cartoons of 8-12 flows of DV-25), with duplication on inexpensive storage systems. Contrastive analysis of software and hardware tools and natural tests allowed to solve quickly the main problem – high-speed processing of multithreaded data. The TV channel unrolled a factory area network of FC SAN from several Entry disk arrays on the AVRORAID platform.

Everyone is connected in network or directly to key servers via FC 8Gb interface and stores from 50 to 100TB video data. The distinctive feature of the solution consists in the high transmission rate of data streams – up to 4 Gbps in RAID6. Execution of storage systems on conventional industrial components allowed to achieve maximum capacity, accelerated commissioning, reduced the storage cost, the solution price in general and costs for maintenance.
