The retail retail chain stores of Leroy Merlin replaced the corporate mail server with the solution Microsoft Exchange Server 2010. Earlier in the company MDaemon used, but due to the lack of support of mobile access and low fault tolerance decided to refuse it.
The Leroy Merlin East company managing network of their 18 household goods hypermakets and constructions in the territory of Russia replaced the old mail server with the solution Microsoft Exchange Server 2010. The project is implemented by Softline integrator.
According to own data of TAdviser, earlier in "Lerua" used not too widespread mail the MDaemon Mail Server servers from Alt-N Technologies, but taking into account the number of employees of retail chain stores, and these are about 7 thousand people, as a result decided to refuse it by a number of parameters.
So, in it there was no possibility of providing mobile access of employees to the majority. The lack of fault tolerance was one more weak point of earlier used mail server, besides the staff of the company noted the slow interface, "hangup" of mail at boot strap loading, said in the official statement of Softline.
Specialists of Softline company conducted examination of the existing infrastructure of e-mail and relevant requirements of retail chain stores on the basis of which it was offered to implement a new solution from Microsoft Exchange what the company management agreed with, having studied previously advantages.
Leroy Merlin has 18 hypermarkets and 7 thousand employees so the choice of a new mail system at once rose before the company an edge, and it refused the old MDaemon server
Implementation of a core of a new mail system was based on technology of virtualization Hyper-V. It allowed to reduce hardware costs without loss in fault tolerance and reliability of all system.
Users of the company estimated a possibility of universal access to a mailbox – in the local area network, via the Internet, from different mobile devices. Alexey Borovsky, the head of IT of infrastructure and communications of Leroy Merlin East company, noted: "The employees who got mobile access always stay in touch that promotes increase in business performance".
Thanks to a large number of functions (means of backup, archiving, mobile access and creation of autonomous configurations), Exchange Server 2010 saves from need to buy additional third-party software. It allowed the company to avoid additional expenses and increased labor productivity several times: employees save time, using access from mobile devices, and system administrators do not need to resort to backup procedure manually using other means.
One of tasks which implementation of a new mail system – the organization of the centralized storage allowed to solve. Now electronic messages are stored on the server that provides access to them from any computer, and not just from a personal workplace, guarantees protection against loss of information and a possibility of its recovery from backup copies in case of failure, provides use of the messages unified the politician of archiving.
Alexey Borovsky said what migration on a new mail system "allowed to increase labor productivity due to more efficient use of working time of users, giving an opportunity to solve bigger quantity of problems in a short time".
