Power View (Project Crescent)

SQL Server Power 2012 Power View (Project Crescent) – one of new tools which will be released in the next version of SQL Server. Project Crescent is a browser focused SilverLight – the application started from Sharepoint 2010. Now Power View is available in SQL Server Denali CTP.

In Sharepoint library it is possible to place model of a business intelligence of BISM based on which the report of Crescent is under construction. During creation of the new report of Crescent the user can select and add to work area of the table, entering into the BISM model. An opportunity to change style of display of the table is given, for this purpose it is enough to select a template from the list. In the report it is possible to create the connected representations (data sets) based on the connected tables. It will allow to filter information and to provide interactivity. When choosing data in one component of the report, other components will be automatically updated. Having selected certain goods from one data set, in other parts of the report filtering will work – those transactions in which these goods and those managers who concluded bargains on these goods appear will be displayed. Except tables it is possible to add the chart to the report. Power View will be useful to the analysis of business data at meetings and meetings, will help to explain these or those values.

Interactive data analysis will help to define not only any specific quantity characteristics, but also to observe as sales changed eventually.
Users can easily create and work with data views from the tabular models based on books of PowerPivot published in PowerPivot gallery and also the tabular models unrolled on SQL Server analytics server.

In design time and the analysis of the report it is possible to create pictures and to place them in a storyboard (storyboard).
