The Moscow jewelry plant prolongs the license agreement for a "cloud" antispam service of Symantec E-mail Security.Cloud. The tested solution showed excellent results, and the enterprise started service on computers of retail network. As the supplier the Softline company, exclusive solution provider Symantec.Cloud in Russia acted.
JSC Moscow Jewelry Plant (MJP) — one of leaders of the domestic precious industry. 90 years the plant offers clients a wide choice of jewelry. Today buyers more than 15 thousand models of jewelry of high-quality gold and natural gemstones are presented, and own unique network of retail stores is located in 70 cities of Russia. The system of e-mail of regional representative offices of MYuZ is based on third-party servers. Earlier selected hosting provider provided qualitative correspondence spam filtering, but had a number of shortcomings — for example, problems with authorization. When service quality decreased to critical level, the decision to replace mail provider was made. The new supplier suited MYuZ, but as a part of its services there was no antispam, and the question of fight against undesirable correspondence became relevant again.
The problem was required to be solved with the minimum costs — both temporary, and financial. In these conditions it was necessary to cut reliable, but difficult options, for example the organization of VPN channels at once. The most obvious exit represented to find the hosting solution. IT specialists of "The Moscow jewelry plant" considered several solutions. As a result a choice was made for benefit of Symantec MessageLabs service. First, at the central office of the company in Moscow the product Symantec Endpoint Protection, and quality spam filter of Symantec is used users of MYuZ assess positively. Secondly, the Softline company, the exclusive supplier of Symantec MessageLabs, offered the free trial period – 1 month.
Implementation, more precisely setup and input of the solution in operation, took two weeks. The specifics were that many offices (shops) of the company are far from Moscow, and it was necessary to overcome a difference in time zones. Because of big loading at the central office IT-spetsialisty MYuZ could not leave in a business trip to regions, and all settings were carried out using remote access. It was not necessary to address to technical support of Symantec or Softline.
"A system requires the minimum settings: it is necessary to create the list of users (accounts) and to specify readdressing parameters. If it is necessary to check only incoming correspondence, it is necessary to specify the addresses of servers of Symantec.Cloud from where messages after check are sent to the final mail server. I.e. the company hoster can even not know that we use spam filter. Some settings on the mail server are necessary, only if we want to check also outgoing messages. Then it is necessary to specify that all outgoing mail is also redirected on the MessageLabs servers", – Alexey Peshkov, the senior engineer of IT department of "The Moscow jewelry plant" tells.
The solution of Symantec.Cloud is used in the MYuZ branch network year. Initially the enterprise connected 210 users, but after testing prolongation of licenses for 260 users is planned. All opened shops will also be connected to a system spam filtering. One employee is engaged in administration of the solution – generally it should change the list of users (to add or delete accounts).
"The solution us completely suits "price/quality" on an indicator. When a system was connected to corporate mail, spam was practically gone. At expansion of a branch network we will increase a packet of licenses. Besides, at the central office action of licenses for an antispam as a part of Endpoint Protection will end soon, and we consider the possibility of transfer of all users to cloud services of Symantec.Cloud. Economically solutions are equivalent, but to support one system much more simply" — Alexey Peshkov emphasizes.
