70% of buses of Moscow will equip with GLONASS navigation equipment

In 2012 70% of buses of Moscow will equip with GLONASS navigation equipment. The Head of Department of transport and development of road and transport infrastructure of the city Maxim Liksutov reported about it at a press conference.

Navigation equipment will equip all public passenger transport and a part of commercial buses and minibuses. In addition to passenger machines GLONASS systems will equip also special equipment involved in a garbage call. Implementing solutions based on GLONASS goes within creation of an intelligent transport system of Moscow.

Authorities of the capital expect increase in speed of public transport, solution of the problem of traffic jams and an opportunity to cope with the increasing passenger traffic from acceptance of these measures.

"For full functioning of ITS navigation equipment not only passenger and specialized transport, but also transport of emergency services – the Ministry of Internal Affairs, with the Ministry of Emergency Situations, emergency medical service should be equipped, - the press service of NPO RIK-Sistemy comments. - The solution which meets all requirements of professional users to reliability and safety of communication is the subscriber equipment TETRA-GLONASS combining possibilities of a digital format of a radio communication of TETRA and satellite positioning of GLONASS. Today similar integration solutions are adopted by emergency services in many countries of the world and successfully proved".
