The Ostankino meat processing plant started operation of a system on new DBMS

"The Ostankino meat processing plant" and IBM corporation brought into commercial operation the automated control system for the SAP enterprise on the platform of the OMPK trading house in Moscow and three production sites of the company. As DBMS IBM DB2 is selected. Placement of databases of SAP on DB2 DBMS will allow OMPK to receive the effective mechanism of management and consolidation of sales.

Installation and start are executed by Credo Consulting company.

Task

The management of IT department of the company was faced by a problem of automation of sales process. According to the results of market research the ERP system of SAP with additional functionality of BI and PI is selected. Implementation of the ERP system will allow the company to optimize sales process due to more accurate maintaining orders and the reporting of systems. The major task within the project was creation of the centralized database in virtual environment with a high performance and working capacity 24/7 as production and marketplaces of the company are territorially distributed, and the specifics of work of OMPK assume the round-the-clock shipment of goods to clients.

According to the results of stress testing from three DBMS (Oracle, DB2 and MaxDB) selects the combination of DB2 and SAP which showed the highest performance. Important advantage to OMPK was the fact that DB2 database management system is delivered to SAP optimized under tasks that provides economy of resources and time. The software solution was integrated by forces of IT specialists of OMPK with the operating hardware platforms of the company that enhanced its scalability and efficiency.
