Stonesoft Firewall/VPN 5.3
The Stonesoft corporation announced that in December, 2011 version 5.3 of the solution Stonesoft Firewall/VPN made by it successfully passed test of consortium VPNC for compliance to requirements of compatibility and support of the IPsec VPN standard, the developed IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force).
Being trade association of developers and producers of means of VPN, the consortium VPNC holds careful testing of products for compliance to the IETF IPsec VPN standard for confirmation of the highest level of functional compatibility and capacity of modern VPN devices. Due to the ever-increasing field of use IPv6 received by Stonesoft Firewall/VPN certification to become more and more relevant. Support of IPv6 standard the products Stonesoft means that they have high functional compatibility and conforms to technical requirements of the state and commercial organizations which use IPv6 standard.
"Integration and compatibility of different means of network protection represent a huge problem for modern networks. Certification on IPv6 standard is confirmation that firewalls with the VPN Stonesoft Firewall/VPN function are capable to provide at the same time the highest compatibility level and protection and also differ in simplicity of implementation and management of network security", - Antti Kuvaja, the Director of products of Stonesoft corporation notes.
In September, 2011 version 5.3.2 of the product Stonesoft Firewall/VPN also successfully passed test of consortium VPNC for compliance to requirements of IKEv2 standard (Internet Key Exchange version 2). IKEv2 standard on authentication and exchange of key information was developed by IETF for the purpose of ensuring compatibility and performance of security aids and also capacity, ease of use and remote access of users.
Stonesoft Firewall/VPN also received the certificate of Common Criteria with the highest trust level for commercial products - EAL4+. The certificate of Common Criteria is the international standard of assessment of security of means of information security. The certificate with the trust level of EAL4+ means that proposed solution fully answers both to the highest requirements for security, and quality of development and production. The certificate of Common Criteria with the trust level of EAL4+ guarantees to governmental bodies and the organizations which protect crucial assets that the certified product meets strict requirements on security and also quality and the organization of production process. Existence of such certificate is a mandatory requirement of the U.S. Government to all federal purchases. Preference is given in the private / commercial sector to the security aids which received at least the certificate with the trust level 2; obtaining the certificate of higher level, such as EAL 4+, provides to clients still big confidence that the product corresponds to the most strict safe criterions.
For obtaining the certificate of Common Criteria with EAL4+ trust level the new version of Stonesoft Firewall/VPN underwent long and strict process of testing. Common Criteria is the international standard (ISO 15408) which describes the general infrastructure for assessment of safety features and functionality of means of protecting. The trust level of EAL4+ is the highest level of security accreditations and it is considered the highest level of certification for commercial products which is recognized in all countries which signed the international agreement about recognition of the Common Criteria standard - Common Criteria Recognition Agreement (CCRA).
The independent standard of security Common Criteria is ratified in 26 countries. More and more organizations with high requirements for security rely on certification of Common Criteria at adoption of investment solutions. The products certified by Common Criteria take a comprehensive and tough independent test that gives to clients a guarantee that the product conforms to the security requirements determined in the Task by security of an object of assessment.
Compliance to requirements of USGv6 of National Institute of standards and NIST technologies
On May 12, 2012 the Stonesoft corporation announced that in April, 2012 the solution Stonesoft Firewall passed test for compliance to requirements of USGv6 of National Institute of standards and NIST technologies (USA).
As the address space in IPv4 comes to an end, from solutions on network security support of IPv6 and compatibility with IPv6 by networks even more often is required. Stonesoft products successfully passed two certification tests: as the firewall with support of IPv6 of the protocol and as the device of high availability, - on compliance to strict standards of certification in independent laboratory ICSA Labs. It should be noted that ICSA Labs is the accredited partner and a sorazrabotchik of the program of testing of USGv6 together with American national standard institute and NIST technologies. Passing of USGv6 test guarantees compatibility and a full compliance to technical standard IPv6.
The program of certification USGv6 covers the hosts, routers, switches and solutions on network security held for use in the government of the United States if support of IPv6 is required or planned.
Stonesoft MIL-320 NG Firewall Appliance/VPN
In February, 2013 Stonesoft announced an exit of Stonesoft MIL-320 NG Firewall Appliance/VPN — the firewall of the new generation held for use in extreme conditions.
Stonesoft MIL-320 is certified at the military level for ensuring high performance in the most adverse conditions — extremely high or low temperatures, excessive moisture, dirt, etc.
The solution provides protection against the sophisticated attacks, includes WLAN network and also allows to use the user ciphers from the connected USB. Besides, as well as effectively protects all solutions Stonesoft, MIL-320 from advanced methods of deviation (AET).
MIL-320 has the small size and is very shock-resistant. It is easy to carry it with itself and it is extremely simple to set.
"With MIL-320 network security is available now where it was never possible earlier" — Romanov Mikhail, the director of business development in Russia, the CIS and the Baltic says Stonesoft corporations. "The device strongly differs from the solutions existing today in the market of network security. He is not afraid of water and dust, is steady against blows, vibration and is efficient at the broad range of temperatures. You can drop it from the helicopter or pass on it by the machine, MIL-320 will continue to work and protect you. Besides, the solution combines the newest technicians of network security, centralized operation and the best performance. To put it briefly, MIL-320 is the first in own way and unsurpassed, in literal sense".
Stonesoft FW-1301
The Stonesoft corporation announced in March, 2013 that the Stonesoft FW-1301 firewall is tested in the group NSS Labs test and received the status of the "Recommended" solution. Stonesoft is one of two producers of information security tools in the world which have all three confirmed statuses of the NSS recommended level in categories: Next Generation Firewall Group Test, Intrusion Prevention System Group Test, Network Firewall Group Test. The tested single platform of security can be configured for work in all scenarios (FW/NGFW/IPS) without compromise on the level of information security or performance. The specified software platform is a basis for all solutions of Sontsoft company, that its potential in implementation of the safety features meeting the highest requirements and standards is not limited by license restrictions.
2013: Stonesoft NGFW 5.6
On November 18, 2013 the Stonesoft company announced release of the new version of the firewall - Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) - Stonesoft NGFW 5.6.
The new release has potential for easy and convenient integration between a management system of Stonesoft Security Management Center (SMC) and any other producers of management systems, expands virtual support of all available roles of security of the firewall.
Updates
Stonesoft NGFW 5.6 helps to increase management efficiency in the environments containing the equipment and network security systems from different producers.
The program interface of management (API) provides integration with monitoring systems, management and control of security policies. For example, with solutions on management of lifecycle of the systems of protection of monitoring of Tufin. For use of the program interface of management (API) version 5.6 SMC does not require separate licensing.
The program interface of management (API) for SMC
Security Management Center in Stonesoft NGFW performs basic functions of management and automation of work of network security, gives the chance to scale networks by the most profitable, economically, method.
Virtualization
In new release possibilities of virtualization are expanded. Version 5.6 allows one physical device to create up to 250 independent virtual devices of network security. They can be used as Firewall/VPN, SOV (IPS) or Layer 2 Firewall (L2FW). Expansion of roles of virtual devices increases flexibility and control of systems management of security and total cost of ownership (TSO) that is especially important for the companies providers (service providers) and large corporations as they use difficult installations.
