Content

The IT company implemented an intelligent system of monitoring of power supply and life support of own data processing center and office located in the territory of business center "Omega of the Loft". A system provides full control of parameters of power supply in real time and control of the status of the capital equipment of the engineering systems that considerably increases reliability of functioning of power supply system of an object.

Solution

In the fall of 2010 the decision on creation of a modern monitoring system of power supply of the building and life support of the corporate data processing center (DPC) was made. Development and start in operation of an intelligent system of monitoring were executed by the department "Industrial automation" of IT company specializing in implementation of automated control systems for buildings.

The created industrial monitoring system of power supply and life support allows to conduct in real time complete analytics of electricity consumption on all nodes of energy consumption of the building, including the office equipment, lighting and household zones. The separate module is responsible for control of functioning of the equipment and parameters of DPC, including:

  • equipment of the main distribution frames and distribution frames and also boards of automatic inputs of a reserve
  • diesel generator sets
  • blocks of uninterrupted power supply
  • precision conditioners, operation parameters (temperature of "cold" "/hot" corridors, humidity), lighting
  • possible emergency situations (water leakage, etc.)

Using an intelligent system of monitoring there is an opportunity to fix in real time tens of parameters of quality of power supply on each measured channel or section, in particular tension, currents, power consumptions, including existence of a reactive component, harmonic, etc. The analysis of electric parameters on different sections of an object helps to reveal "narrow" places where there is a need of installation of the additional hardware adjusting quality of power supply and allowing to lower the general power consumption and "smooth" peak operation modes to increase the efficiency of the equipment and to increase the general reliability of functioning of all infrastructure.

Functions of instant registration of emergency situations in power supply system of DPC and the building, archiving of parameter values of a system and also warning of the operator by e-mail and the SMS about approach of parameters of power supply to critical values or emergency situations are provided. It allows to avoid development of an emergency situation and to take adequate timely measures, to provide continuous control of a power supply system. A system registers also other emergency situations: water leakages, critical temperature change and humidity on which also informs persons on duty.

Besides, the possibility of documentation of all events which are taking place in a system, storages of historical data, creation of diagrams and release of required reporting documents for any set periods is implemented.

The hardware of a system is constructed based on the equipment of Janitza Electronics company (Germany). "Top level" of a system is implemented based on the software of the class SCADA WEB STUDIO of InduSoft company (USA).

Result

As a result of implementation of an intelligent system of monitoring of power supply and life support of corporate DPC and the building of IT it was succeeded to provide full control of necessary parameters and to increase system effectiveness of power supply of an object. Now the complete picture about work of technology equipment of DPC with a possibility of obtaining the early notification about the arising problems and prevention of peak consumption is available to responsible specialists. Also reduction of cost of operation of the systems of power supply, increase in knowledge of personnel and transition to real energy saving on an object is noted.
