Biography

Education

1987 - graduated from geographical faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University (department of rational environmental management).

1987 - 1989 - served as the officer of the Soviet Army in Khabarovsk.

1993 - completed postgraduate studies at geographical faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University.

1994 - defended the master's thesis on the subject "Features of Accumulation of Aero Technogenic Pollyutant in the Urban Environment" and received an academic degree of the Candidate of geographical sciences.

1997 - graduated from Cross-industry institute of advanced training and retraining of the managerial personnel and specialists at Economic academy of G.V. Plekhanov (specialty "Finance and Credit").

2010 - defended the doctoral dissertation on a subject "Integration of new economic space of Russia: global, corporate and regional aspects" also received an academic degree of the Doctor of Economics.

Career

1994 - 1995 - worked as the broker at Russian Commodities and Raw Material Exchange and the Central Russian universal exchange.

1995 - the manager of department of securities in Metropol bank.

1995 - acted as the initiator of creation of Metropol Investment and finance company.

Since 5/16/1995 to this day - is the CEO of Investment and Finance Company Metropol. Also he is the CEO of Metropol Management company and the Chairman of the board of directors of Metals of Eastern Siberia Corporation.

3/13/2011 - won a by-election in Council of deputies of the Eravninsky district of Buryatia with support of 65% of voters (344 voices)^[2].

Mikhail Slipenchuk is an initiator of organization of a number of charitable foundations and public organizations. Among them - Federation Kekusin-Caen karate - to Russia, Fund of development of martial arts, Charitable foundation of support of navy "Cruiser "Varangian", Fund of assistance to preserving of Lake Baikal, Charitable foundation of the help to children "Under a hope star". Thanks to an organizational and financial support of Mikhail Slipenchuk the memorial to the cruiser "Varangian" in Scotland (2007) is set, recovery and restoration of many Orthodox and Buddhist churches in the territory of Russia are performed. Among them: Holy Transfiguration Monastery (Murom), Nilo-Stolbenskaya of deserts (Tver region), Uspensky temple (settlement of Chernigovka, Primorsky Krai), Church of the Saviour (page. Pine and Ozyorsk, Buryatia), temple Zandan Zhuu and Ivolginsky datsan (Buryatia), etc.

Mikhail Slipenchuk was directly involved in implementation of a number of large forwarding and scientific projects, including:

• expedition "Flight to planet top" (the successful flight first in the history to the North Pole on a thermal aerostat Sacred Russia, 2005);
• the High Start project (establishment of a world record on rise in height on the Polar Goose airship, 2006);
• expedition Arctic 2007 (immersion of the deep-sea manned submersibles "World" on a bottom of the Arctic Ocean in a geographical point of the North Pole, 2007);
• The international research expedition Worlds on Baikal" (studying of Lake Baikal using the deep-sea manned submersibles "World", 2008-2010);
• expedition Antarctica 2009;
• expedition "Patomsky crater of 2010" and "Patomsky crater of 2011";
• the international research expedition to Wrangel Island in Arctic the ocean, the end of August - the beginning of September, 2011 (the expedition performed a complex of meteorological, radiometric, heatbalance sheet and oceanologic researches). Works on studying of an ecological situation to Wrangel Island and paleontologic researches were carried out).

Awards

• For the achieved labor success and long-term fair work it is awarded with a medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" of the II degree (2010).

• For a contribution to development of the Russian-Mongolian relations it is awarded the order the Pole star (Mongolia).

• For a contribution to charitable and social activity it is awarded with the Order of Holy Prince Daniel of Moscow 3 class, Saint Sergey of Radonezh's award of the III degree, the Tsarskoye Selo art award "For Support of Cultural Projects", the award "The Philanthropist of Year — 2008" in the Republic of Buryatia.

Interesting Facts

In 2006 Mikhail Slipenchuk purchased a collection of cars of JSC Moskvich which gave to the Moscow Museum of retrocars later. Mikhail Slipenchuk kept Pontiac Grand Prix. In March, 2009 it returned the Pontiac Grand Prix car to Mikhail Gorbachev presented to it by the ex-U.S. President.^[3].
