The northeast federal university of M.K. Ammosov completes the first stage of the project of a cloud educational platform

The northeast federal university of M.K. Ammosov implements the project of creation of a cloud educational platform. The companies participate in the project: "Inline Group", RSK group, Intel.

Solution

The "Uniform Information Service Space" (UISS) project is implemented by the federal university together with large Russian IT integrators: Inline Group company and RSK group with active support of Intel corporation. Joint efforts of the company developed the general concept of the educational solution for SVFU based on technology of cloud computing.

As the general contractor Inline Group acted, being responsible for development of the EISP system project and also sale of the hardware and a communication component of the project. The RSK group participates in the project as the developer and the supplier of the innovation educational platform "RSK Universum" based on cloud computing for quality improvement and efficiency of educational process of higher education institutions, and the Intel corporation played a role of the ideologist and consultant thanks to the versatile experience of participation in similar projects in the world. Implementation of the joint project in SVFU is begun in November, 2011. Now it is in a completion stage of the 1st stage of implementation.

Objectives

Within project implementation hardware of higher education institution will improve, the network of telecommunications is upgraded, access rate to the Internet and to university network will increase. The first batch of "social notebooks" which the university buys for expansion of opportunities of participation of students and teachers in testing and gaining experience of work with EISP already came to SVFU.

Opinion

Sergey Neustroyev, the first vice rector for a financial and economic and business activity of SVFU, is convinced of need of it really of the innovation project and reliability of the proposed solution.

"The main advantage of such global project will become the fact that each teacher and student will have an opportunity "manage the affairs", being in any point of the Sakha Republic, Russia or world. For example, teachers will be able to control remotely in what the student is engaged as he performs tasks, to comment on the sent materials and documents. It will be possible to look at the lesson schedule at any time, to learn about changes in higher education institution, new orders; also students and teachers will be able freely to exchange documents and to come with each other for virtual contact" — Vladimir Yanushkevich, the commercial director of Inline Group company noted. The educational platform "RSK Universum" based on technology of cloud computing gives opportunities for creation by teachers and further providing various educational and methodical services to students and also provides access to standard applications in "a private cloud" of higher education institution. Connection and work in a system from the notebook or any other device (the desktop PC, the netbook, the tablet, the smartphone) require only existence of the browser and Internet access.

"Our specialists not only developed the innovation educational platform "RSK Universum" based on cloud computing and the software with the open code, but also have practical experience of its implementation for quality improvement and efficiency of educational process, relying on requirements and tasks which exist today and decide in large Russian higher education institutions. We use all the practices and knowledge at accomplishment of the joint project in SVFU at which more than 22 thousand students get higher education. Resources and talents

The temporary on-stage performance group from more than twenty teachers, employees and students of the university and also specialists of Inline Group and RSK works on the project.

Result

A new system already began work in the test mode in the body of faculties of natural sciences of SVFU.

The company integrator announced on August 5, 2013 a complex of technologies and the solutions used by INLINE GROUP company in this project:

• a data network of the university with creation of both wire, and wireless segments;

• the centralized subsystem of access control of SPD and protection against threats of cybersecurity based on Cisco firewalls of the ASA 5585-X series and also a subsystem of external Internet services based on the solution Cisco Service Control Engine and Cisco ASR routers;
• network infrastructure of DPC of the supercomputer center of the university based on convergent Cisco switches of the Nexus 5500 series;
• subsystem of unified communications and video conferences on the basis of software of Cisco CUCM and a line of Cisco Telepresence;
• subsystem of centralized operation and monitoring based on software of Cisco Works LMS and Cisco Security Manager.
