IBM Tivoli Netcool/Reporter

IBM Tivoli Netcool/Reporter is the generator of statistic reports of abnormal messages.

The module is intended for processing and storage of history of the messages received in ObjectServer base. As this base should contain the messages reflecting a situation of this timepoint, messages about the previous problems and malfunctions are removed the operator manually or one of the automation equipment.

Cleaning of old messages is necessary for maintenance of high performance of processing of new records about incidents. When the message is removed from Omnibus, together with it all accompanying information, including the history of its processing, a note of operators and, at last, record about that who is removed (or that) and when deleted it. Removal is final and is not subject to recovery.

As such situation cannot suit service of operation, for the solution of this task the gateway Omnibus and the module Netcool/Reporter is used.

The gateway in this configuration works on the following algorithm. After the new message is written in ObjectServer base, the gateway immediately copies it in the repository organized in the external disk database. After that throughout all term of life of the message the gateway writes in the external database all actions made with it (napr who confirmed it who took in hand as criticality who deleted changed and what comment before it left). The message is erased in ObjectServer base, but remains in archive (Oracle, Sybase, MS SQL). As a result the archive contains both old, and relevant messages. Problems of reports generation of contemporary records lie on Netcool/Reporter.

IBM Tivoli Netcool/Reporter is the client-server web application working in real time intended for the solution of the following tasks:

• reports generations on requests of operators or according to the set diagram;
• editing and developments of new report templates;
• automatic electronic mailing of ready reports in HTML and PDF a format.

Types of the representations available on pages of reports of IBM Tivoli Netcool/Reporter include:

• tables with messages and also with the aggregated numerical values, the supporting transitions to the detailed description;
• 2D and 3D of the chart of different types;
• navigation tree;
• decorative graphic elements

All work with a product, including user administration and development of new reports is conducted using the web interface.

Except means of designing the product is completed a set of ready reports. Reports are separated on categories:

• Summary report
• Operational performance
• Diagnostics of failures
• Layer management of service
• Templates and samples of reports

The majority of reports allow to select the required interval covered by it before creation.
