The Uralplastik company completed the project of transfer of an enterprise management system to the new version - Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009. The project is implemented together with a team of specialists of the international consulting company Columbus.

Approach

Construction of the new plant on production of the flexible plastic packaging modified by self-produced nanocomposites and also development plans for internal infrastructure, pushed company management of Uralplastik to need of transfer of functionality of an outdated ERP system of Microsoft Dynamics AX 3.0 to the new version of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009.

Anatoly Blyakhman, the director of IT department of Uralplastik, explained: "We understood, the ERP system should cover all basic processes of our business. Jointly with specialists of Columbus we booked audit of processes of management of logistics, contractual accounting, purchase of materials, and found out that we actually do not use two thirds of earlier executed modifications of the ERP system of Microsoft Dynamics AX 3.0. Besides the former version of ERP ceased to meet our performance requirements, as a result we decided to pass to the new platform".

Purposes and solution

Increase in transparency and controllability of key business processes of Uralplastik, obtaining complete, operational and reliable information for decision making and also reduction of material and finance costs at stages of production planning and sale became main objectives of the project. In a project deliverable, performed by specialists of consulting company Columbus, the customer purchased new, more productive ERP system and additional functionality for the organization of raw material stock management, materials, semi-finished products and finished goods.

The project of transfer of Uralplastik on the new version of the ERP system proceeded about half a year. Anatoly Blyakhman acting as the project coordinator from the customer is positive for work of the Columbus command. "Speaking about results, first of all I will note that for users of Uralplastik the project of transition to Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 was painless. We brought order to a system of accounting and control of material flows and finance costs, regarding purchase of raw materials and materials. Now we accurately understand what we spend money for. Besides, we had an opportunity of installation of new modifications of this ERP solution that will provide to our business a number of additional competitive advantages", - he emphasizes.

Now Uralplastik jointly with specialists of consulting company Columbus continues to develop an information system regarding production management, material flows and supply chains.
