2018: Arrest and criminal case

The Magomedov brothers were arrested in March 2018. At the end of June 2019, the court extended their arrest until September 30. The defendants in the case do not consider themselves guilty. In total, 16 defendants are involved in the case, six of whom are on the international wanted list.

Sources of TASS and RBC reported that the investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs charged Magomedov with the final version. They were charged with nine episodes of fraud on an especially large scale (Article 159 of the Criminal Code) and the creation of an organized criminal community (Article 210 of the Criminal Code). The interlocutors said that the amount of damage quadrupled, to 11 billion rubles. Previously, it was estimated at 2.5 billion rubles.

In August 2019, it became known that the investigative actions in the case of the co-owner of the Summa group Ziyavudin Magomedov and his brother, ex-senator Magomed Magomedov, were completed. The defense will begin to study the case file.

2020: Coronavirus infection in jail

According to a member of the POC Eva Merkacheva, in May 2020, the founder of the Summa group contracted the virus in the pre-trial detention center, the disease is mild. He was isolated in a separate cell.

The Khamovnichesky Court of Moscow in May 2022 satisfied the claim of the General Prosecutor's Office to appeal $750 million to the state, declared to the founder of the Summa group Ziyavudin Magomedov and his brother Magomed Magomedov. This amount became a record for Russia in similar claims.

Conviction for 19 years in prison

Co-owner of the Summa group Ziyavudin Magomedov and his brother Magomed on December 1, 2022 were sentenced to 19 and 18 years in prison in the case of creating an OPS and embezzling 11 billion rubles.
