The Komsomolskaya Pravda publishing House passes to Google Apps

The Softline company performed delivery and implementation of cloud services of Google Apps for Komsomolskaya Pravda publishing house. Transition more than 1500 jobs to a cloud of Google is one of the largest projects on implementation of Google services of Apps for business in Russia. In a project deliverable the customer received the uniform and protected IT system, having cut down expenses on support of IT infrastructure.

Komsomolskaya Pravda has a long and interesting story and is one of the oldest Russian printing editions. The publishing house always developed up to date, aiming to use the innovation ideas, both in the editorial plan, and in hardware. Komsomolskaya Pravda – one of recognized leaders in the market of mass media to which readers trust. The edition covering important events is submitted in all regions and the large cities of the Russian Federation.

For providing high standards of work of media in the conditions of the modern world where information extends with an incredible speed, and the mobility became the inevitable requirement of time, it is necessary to use possibilities of information technologies as much as possible.

Before the management of the edition there was a question of upgrade of IT infrastructure of the organization so that information technologies met all modern requirements and promoted increase in efficiency of editions in all regions. After the analysis of the solutions proposed in the market and comparison on a ratio price/quality a choice was made for benefit of Google services. As the supplier of services the Softline company was selected.

One of the projects on migration, largest in Russia, on Google Apps passed in several stages. In the beginning the pilot project which included transition of two branches of the edition to cloud services of Google was implemented. Based on its successful completion the diagram of migration of other branches was made and the training plan of employees to work in information environment, new to them, is developed. In three months the project was complete more than in ten representations of Komsomolskaya Pravda where training programs for technical specialists of the edition on administration Google Apps and master classes for the staff of the editorial offices in effective use of opportunities of services were also implemented. As a result of project implementation uniform IT infrastructure for all distributed branches was organized that allowed to increase considerably quality of internal communications and to structure information flows in publishing house.

The Komsomolskaya Pravda publishing House received a set of means of joint work which satisfies with everything to business needs – mobility, continuous access to data, usability and the minimum terms of information transfer.

Google Apps is six main services: e-mail, the system of the general calendars, exchange of short text messages, a voice communication and also joint storage and editing office documents providing a full range of opportunities for a full-fledged work of the user. Increase in employee performance from use of the convenient tool for joint work became unconditional advantage of service, except financial attractiveness.

All branches work as the uniform mechanism today. Staff of professional journalists, flexibility, speed of decision making and information transfer – all this allows the management of the edition to realize the most courageous solutions. Cloud services of Google Apps for business ideally were entered in this concept.
