McAfee Endpoint Protection in NPO Saturn

The Softline company announces end of a pilot project at one of the largest engineering enterprises of Russia – Saturn scientific and production association. Within the project works on the implementing solution McAfee Endpoint DLP for ensuring confidential information protection from leaks were carried out.

NPO Saturn scientific and production association – one of the enterprises of military industrial complex for production and service of turbine jets, largest in Russia, including for airplanes of the brand Sukhoi. Products of the plant are focused on civil and military aircraft and also navy. Revenue of the company from product sales makes 10.5 billion rubles, and net profit – 53.3 million rubles (data of 2011).

Operating activities of NPO Saturn are connected with processing of large volume of the technical information making the intellectual property of the company. Such information should be reliably protected not only from threats of plunders from external malefactors, but also from the risks connected with its inadvertent disclosure or deliberate theft by internal users – the staff of the company and persons having access to confidential data.

The open competition on work on implementation of the DLP system meeting all requirements of Department of security of NPO Saturn was won by Softline company, having offered the best delivery conditions and a full range of implementation services, to setup, technical support and training of employees of the customer.

Specialists of Softline conducted the general examination of infrastructure of the enterprise, processes of providing Information Security and processing of confidential information in a number of business divisions. Several classes of standard jobs, the information processing order on which is standardized were selected and do not depend on belonging to division. Also the operating procedure from confidential information in several business divisions of the enterprise was analyzed, possible scenarios and methods of information exchange with the third-party companies within business processes are defined. Jointly with specialists of NPO Saturn the order of reference of information to the confidential, subject protection using a DLP system was defined. On the basis of data retrieveds the technical specifications on a system including the politicians defining methods of reaction of a DLP system to different events depending on type of a workplace, business division and a confidentiality level of information are developed.

The engineering and analytical command of Softline proposed to the client the solution McAfee Endpoint Data Loss Prevention as the most corresponding to the policy of the company for the organization of protection of information resources against internal threats. Jointly with specialists of NPO Saturn the list of jobs for system deployment was defined and pilot implementation according to technical specifications is made. Within the project specialists of Softline performed the pilot implementation of a DLP system on 150 jobs which allowed to organize management of flows of confidential data in a pilot zone and to provide their protection against leaks on different channels (e-mail, the Internet, removable mediums, etc.).

For specialists of NPO Saturn trainings on system management were provided, and successfully carried out acceptance tests of the solution confirmed its compliance to expectations of the specialists responsible for providing Information Security.
