Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works completed an implementation project of the ACS of high readiness

In JSC MMK the project on creation of the access control system (ACS) of high availability is implemented. The fault tolerance of SKD is implemented due to application of the complete solution Symantec Storage Foundation HA for Windows.

Objectives

The project is executed for the purpose of upgrade of a control system of access, managing work of checkpoints and the admission of motor transport.

Start

The analysis of ways of increase in fault tolerance and reliability of SKD constructed on the basis of the solution Win-Pak, executed with participation of specialists of SoftBCom LLC showed that for the existing operating conditions of this applied system the most optimal approach is reservation in a physical medium of its server block with automatic switching to a reserve node means of cluster infrastructure. Maintenance of synchronism of data on a standby server for lack of the external disk array requires use of replication.

Specialists SoftBCom offered complex option of implementation of this approach on the basis of closely integrated solutions of the SymantecStorage Foundation HA for Windows family: Veritas Cluster, Storage Foundation and Veritas Volume Replicator. The careful analysis of it and other possible solutions executed by MMP-Informservice LLC showed attractiveness of the offer SoftBCom, however for acceptance of the final decision it was required to check its working capacity, compliance of parameters to necessary values, reliability of operation of protection at all possible failures.

Solution

Implementation of failsafe option of the Control system of Access, after testing of this solution on a prototype, did not reveal any problems and took less than a month, taking into account repeated carrying out a full stroke of acceptance tests. Works are performed by joint efforts of specialists of SoftBCom company and the staff of MMP-Informservice LLC, affiliated enterprise JSC MMK. In the course of project implementation assigned tasks were completely solved: the control system of access received the implementation providing the required level of reliability and fault tolerance, and the result was achieved in the shortest possible time and with the minimum derivation of specialists of the customer on preparatory work.
