For ensuring smooth operation of IT infrastructure of Higher School of Economics and specialists SITRONICS IT designed World Data Centres "Daterium-2" set it in the historic center of Moscow. The project became the first example of placement of mobile DPC in the historic center of Moscow without intervention in architecture of buildings.
Creation of IT infrastructure of NIU of Higher School of Economics on the basis of the modern data processing center (DPC) in a complex of buildings in Pokrovsky Boulevard became the main objective of the project. It was for this purpose necessary to propose the reliable, failsafe solution, meeting the high requirements to availability and performance, but at the same time – compact by the sizes. As a result, as such solution the model of World Data Centres "Daterium-2" (Daterium-2) of own product line certified in the Russian Federation SITRONICS IT was selected.
The mobile data processing center of "Daterium-2" (Daterium-2) is created by the principle "all inside" in a form factor of the transport container ISO of 20 feet. "Daterium-2" is the only mobile data center in the class which contains 7 racks 42U for placement of the IT equipment and the necessary engineering systems, including, – uninterrupted power, conditioning, fire safety, monitoring and control of parameters of infrastructure. Thus, according to the results of project implementation NIU "Higher School of Economics" received the reliable and economical solution which is completely conforming to requirements to IT infrastructure of the modern dynamic developing university. In turn, for SITRONICS IT this project became the first experiment on development and delivery of World Data Centres to a higher educational institution.
"The needs of higher educational institutions for modern information technologies constantly grow, but not always territorial opportunities of higher education institution answer the conditions necessary for creation of a reliable information complex, – the director of information technology of Higher School of Economics National Research University Scherbakov Oleg comments, – In our case the server premises to the address Pokrovsky Boulevard, 11 appeared in the first stage of the reconstructed complex of buildings. Implementation of step-by-step reconstruction of all administrative and educational object required transfer central server on the temporary platform without long stop of the operating information systems. Movement of a large fragment of IT infrastructure with critical business applications became possible thanks to the mobile Daterium-2 complex which was selected by a complex of the criteria which included the cost, compactness, available time of a product and platform". It should be noted that this project became the first example of placement of mobile DPC in the historic center of Moscow without any intervention in architecture of buildings. The area of the territory which was required for the Daterium-2 installation is almost equal to one parking place on parking.
"The platform under placement of data center in the territory of NIU of Higher School of Economics is located in the center of Moscow that imposed certain restrictions on overall dimensions of DPC, its transportation and installation, – Vladimir Orekhov comments, the chief project engineer SITRONICS IT, – as a result shipment of World Data Centres weighing 9 tons was executed in the conditions of limited space at night that demanded the "jewelry" accuracy and harmonious work. Project implementation for the HSE became valuable experience for us and one more proof of ample opportunities of World Data Centres in the field of creation of the reliable infrastructures ensuring functioning of critical business applications".
