Starshinov Vyacheslav Ivanovich

Famous Soviet hockey player, two-time Olympic champion, 9-fold world champion, Honoured Master of Sports of the USSR (1963), honored trainer of RSFSR.

Started the career in 1957 in Moscow Spartak. It spent the next 15 years in this club, having driven in 405 pucks in 540 games. At it Spartak three times became the champion of the country (1962, 1967, 1969), won the Cup of the USSR (1970, 1971) twice.

Also during this time Starshinov became the silver prize-winner of the championships the USSR 1965, 1966, 1968, 1970, the bronze prize-winner 1963, 1964, 1972, 1975, 1979, the finalist of a Cup of the USSR 1967.

In 1975 Starshinov went the USSR to play for the Japanese club "Odzi Seyzi" as the playing trainer.

As a part of USSR national team participated in 10 World Cups in nine of which won gold medals (everything since 1963 on 1971, also bronze prize-winner of a FM of 1961). In the World Cup of 1965 it was recognized by the best forward.

Besides, two times participated at the Olympic Games and both times won a gold medal (1964 and 1968). Played in the second game of a legendary superseries of the USSR — Canada of 1972. In 1969 — 1971 — the captain of USSR national team.

In 182 games for USSR national team Starshinov drove in 149 pucks. On a FM and the Olympic Games played 78 matches, threw 64 pucks.

It is awarded with several state awards among which:

Award of the Labour Red Banner (1965) Order of the Badge of Honour (1968), Order of Honour (2010)[2] Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" 3rd Class (on April 26, 2000) and the IV degrees (on January 18, 2007) — for a big contribution to development of domestic sport [3] Order of Friendship (1995; in connection with the 60 anniversary of society "Spartak") It is awarded the order also Olympic (2000). Graduated from the Moscow aviation Institute of Technology (1964). In 1975 Starshinov became the candidate of pedagogical sciences. In 1979 professor headed department of a physical education of Moscow Engineering Physics Institute.

In 1972 — 1974 — the senior coach of HK "Spartak", the silver prize-winner of the championship the USSR 1973. In 1976 — 1978 — the head coach of Seysi Oodji club (Japan).

In 1987 — 1991 — the chairman of Federation of hockey of RSFSR. In 1999 — 2003 — the vice president of GCC Spartak (Moscow). In 2002 — the president of GCC Spartak (Moscow).

Since 2004 till present — the president of the Association of the Enterprises of the Sports Industry (AESI).

In 2007 it was entered into the Hall of Fame of International Ice Hockey Federation. In 2004 it is chosen to the Hall of Fame of domestic hockey.

Author of books "I Am a Centre Forward" (1971), Hockey school (1974).
