DIT: Muscovites actively use the state mobile services

In November, 2012 representatives of DIT of Moscow said that the notification about new penalties of traffic police is most demanded by Muscovites among the offered city mobile services, on it more than 224 thousand people are signed, on the second place - SMS reminders on record to the doctor - them receive more than 200 thousand users, says the department of information technologies (DIT) of Moscow.

Also popular service is informing parents on visit by the child of school and his school power supply - more than 13 thousand families in Northern and Southeast districts where there takes place the experiment with issue of electronic cards to pupils use service.

According to data of department, approximately in three months 500 thousand Muscovites used city mobile services. More than 40 thousand unique users installed the applications for smartphones developed by city services or business on the basis of the data opened by the mayor's office.

Up to 70% of cell phones which Muscovites use are not smartphones therefore start of uniform city SMS portal 7377 and the *377# USSD menu significantly lowered a threshold of access to mobile services of the city, having provided rapid growth of a subscriber base, data of department demonstrate.

At the same time Moscow remains one of leaders in Russia on growth rates of the park of smartphones that is confirmed by statistics of downloading of city mobile applications, the report says. Among users of the Single mobile platform the Android operating system is most popular - it is the share of it up to 58% of downloadings, another 40% of city applications are established on smartphones based on iOS. About 2% of installations are the share of the Windows platform of Phone now, however specialists of department predict the serious growth of its share after start of WP8.

The key principles of the Single mobile platform are the open architecture providing a possibility of accession to it of operators and third-party content providers and also free of charge all services for citizens, words of the head of DIT Artyom Yermolaev are cited in the message. According to him, in the long term city mobile services can attract up to 5 million users.

The department of information technologies of the city expects the most rapid growth in a segment of mobile payments. The parking experiment on Petrovka and a Carriage row showed that prefer to pay through the mobile phone most of car owners.

As the main limiters of growth of mobile technologies Yermolaev calls unstable quality of cellular communication and prevalence of fraud using short numbers. In the closest plans of department - acceptance of indications of household counters using the SMS and start of mobile application which will allow the drivers registered in the Single mobile platform to communicate among themselves, knowing only a car license plate.
