This software version for network video surveillance in small points of retail offers a number of new opportunities, such as audio delivery, support of Public View Monitoring for trading floors, the image format of Axis Corridor Format and authentication of the video record.

The new version of the program supports audio delivery in one direction so now it is possible to hear what occurs on the protected object. Thanks to use of IP technology implementation of a transmission function of a sound became the available and inexpensive solution. The network video camera with support of audio delivery transfers video and an audiosignal on one equipment cable so the separate audiocable is not required. Besides, the new version supports the unique, so-called bellboy, the image format (Corridor Format) developed by Axis company. It is very convenient format for video surveillance, for example, on ladders, in corridors and rather narrow passes. Also it should be noted that now the program supports the Public View Monitoring function which is specially intended for video surveillance for visitors in trading floors. It is possible to load the third-party application on the mobile device, and the stream image from the video camera can be looked on any standard monitor. For control and accounting at storage of the accumulated material function of the digital signature when exporting the video record is implemented now.

The software of AXIS Camera Companion will allow owners of small shops of retail to estimate all advantages offered by network cameras of video surveillance in the HDTV format: accurate recognition of violators, identification of thefts and other incidents. At the line video image from surveillance cameras, as well as the stored videos, it is possible to look both directly on the object, and far off via the Internet. A system supports function of detection of the movement and PTZ control of the video camera. Videos and freeze frames can be exported easily for transfer to fellow workers and responsible bodies. Besides, a system supports a possibility of installation of third-party applications for watching line video and videos on smartphones and tablet computers, for example by iPhone, iPad and Android.

Unlike analog video surveillance the software of AXIS Camera Companion does not require use of the central writer device – the digital video recorder (DVR), the network video recorder (NVR) and even the computer. All video record in each video camera registers in the standard memory card of the SD format, and the camera will continue to keep record even at violation of network connection. Video cameras receive power supply on network therefore they do without additional separate feed cables. At the expense of it installation process becomes more simply, and cheaper, and the video surveillance system is much more reliable. If there are already analog video cameras, they can be integrated into a video surveillance system via video servers, thus having cut down unnecessary expenses.

2014: AXIS Camera Companion 2.2

On September 23, 2014 the Axis Communications company announced release of the new version of software of AXIS Camera Companion 2.2.

AXIS Camera Companion 2.2 supports the Axis Mobile Streaming technology developed especially for quick and simple access to video of high definition in real time or to record at limited network transmission capacity.
