SharePoint Server 2010 for Rusagrotrans Ltd

In the fall of 2012 the Softline company completed the works on upgrade of a corporate portal of Rusagrotrans Ltd. Within the project the portal was re-structured and postponed for the Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 platform.

Rusagrotrans Ltd was created with the assistance of Rustransk LLC and JSC Freight One in 2008 in response to objective needs of the agrarian sector for hi-tech, complex offers on transportation of grain loads. Need of emergence in the market of such structure became more and more obvious in process of increase in production and export of the Russian grain. Now it is one of the largest infrastructure operators in the field of rail transportation of grain loads, in the mobile park of the company there are more than 30,000 specialized cars.

Practically right after creation of the company the corporate portal on the Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 platform which over time ceased to meet the requirements of the organization because of obsolescence of the version of the software product was started. Besides in use it became clear that some modules of the portal are not used in work. With respect thereto before department of IT of Rusagrotrans Ltd there was a task of upgrade and restructuring of this resource and, as a result, its migration on Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 – the platform with more wide functionality. For the choice of the partner in the project the company announced the tender in which victory was won by Softline company.

From outside Rusagrotrans the working group into which representatives of the following departments entered was created: information technologies, strategic marketing and corporate communications, corporate management, personnel management and administration. Such structure allowed to consider wishes of staff of the organization, the main business customers in the company and to create a uniform convenient resource of storage of corporate information in work.

The project on upgrade and restructuring the intranet resource was begun with solution development and creation of the structure of the portal identical existing – pages, nodes. Then specialists of department of solutions of Microsoft of Softline company carried out migration of functional modules on the Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 platform, finished and placed new services, such as Address directory, "New employees", "Birthdays" on pages of a resource and also configured search in the portal and in the documents which are contained on it that significantly simplified work of users. All staff of the company has rights to viewing and reading the materials placed on the portal practically, to the restricted information access is provided under approval. In addition to employees to a corporate portal have an opportunity to be connected some partners of the company.

The intranet resource is put into commercial operation, and users actively work with it. The most popular sections statistically are news of the company, corporate documentation and an organization structure where all necessary information on the staff of the company is collected. For different storage of instructions and corporate prototypes the portal is used by Department of the administration and also Corporate management department and IT, for storage of promotional materials, video, an interview – Department of strategic marketing and corporate communications.

For convenience of work of users integration of a resource with an electronic document management system is carried out.

Chalenko Anatoly Yuryevich, the Director of the department of information technologies of Rusagrotrans Ltd, tells: "Transfer of the existing corporate portal Rusagrotrans from the Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 platform on the Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 platform with expansion of functionality what specialists of department of solutions of Microsoft of Softline company coped "perfectly well" with was a main objective of the project".

"Our internal corporate portal is intended for solving of tasks of creation of uniform storage of corporate information and ensuring the secure personified access to it for different user groups via the web interface.
