Since 1972 - at diplomatic work. Held different diplomatic positions in central office of the MFA and abroad (Senegal, Australia, Great Britain).

1976 - 1977 - the attache in the 1st Department of Africa the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR.

1977 - 1978 - the 3rd secretary in the secretariat of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the USSR.

1978 - 1979 - the 2nd secretary in the secretariat of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the USSR.

1979 - 1981 - the 2nd secretary in Embassy of the USSR in Australia.

1981 - 1985 - the 1st secretary in Embassy of the USSR in Australia.

1985 - 1987 - the 1st secretary in the European department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR.
