Times when PLM technology was considered as something unavailable, ended approximately in 2005. Earlier the small number of the Russian enterprises as it is quite expensive technologies which studying, as well as any new approaches requires great efforts could do they. But provision changes, and now the PLM solution gains ground. If earlier in projects it was talked of tens of jobs, then now - of hundreds. Technologies become cheaper, not promptly, but is noticeable, especially if to consider aggregate value. The products Siemens PLM Software are available to work on the Windows platform now that allowed to pass from expensive workstations to more available PCs.
However still implementation of PLM technologies requires serious efforts both from customer company, and from solution provider. It not simply automation of jobs, and change of a development approach of products. The company should review seriously all development processes, productions and maintenances of the products.
In Russia each enterprise prefers to have own expert center, nevertheless, in the field of PLM there was already a change. Customers understand what they pay money to consultants for and to them it is harder and harder to hold the own qualified resource.
If structural adjustment in the industry is inevitable, and we assume it, then the PLM centers should become more, and projects will be more complex owing to complication of problems which are solved by customers. The available examples show that the uniform technology policy, uniform ideology of PLM when implementing the most difficult problems of development, production and maintenance of difficult knowledge-intensive products is necessary.
