Marine Rescue Service (formerly Russian State Marine Rescue Service)

FGBU Morspassvyachba is one of the largest professional services in the world engaged in emergency rescue, search and rescue activities and the elimination of the consequences of disasters and disasters at sea. It is under the jurisdiction of the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport of the Ministry of Transport of Russia. It includes nine branches throughout the country from Kaliningrad to Sakhalin, from Murmansk to Astrakhan.

As of 2023, the Marine Rescue Service fleet includes about three hundred rescue, fire, research, diving and other special-purpose vessels.

The decision to create a marine rescue service was made on the basis of an order of the Council of Ministers of the USSR of August 23, 1956 No. 5128-r, according to which the performance of ship lifting and underwater technical work for national economic purposes for all civilian departments was transferred to the Ministry of the Navy of the USSR.
