Home Credit and Finance Bank prepares a test environment for control of updates

IBS Platformix upgraded the computing platform of testing of program updates for Home Credit Bank on the IBM Storwize V7000 platform, the press service of integrator reported on February 21, 2013.

Background

In Home Credit Bank the automated banking system for which there are regularly updates works. For ensuring fault tolerance all updates pass preliminary test on copies of working databases. For carrying out these tests the bank uses the specialized computer system, a so-called test environment.

"Because in test environments several storage systems from different producers were used, there were obstacles for conducting testings. There was not enough time for preparation and copying of databases between systems, infrastructure management was complicated, and expenses on its maintenance constantly grew", – Sergey Novitsky, the director of the department of maintenance of IT systems of Home Credit Bank noted.

Solution

Within the project one cluster of DWH from 4 pairs of controllers under control of which there can be about 36 disk shelves (by the time of project completion set 30 disk shelves) is created. In need of increase in disk space, DWH it is possible to scale easily.

The technological solution is created on the IBM Storwize V7000 platform.

With project implementation the volume of the stored information increased, there was a possibility of further scaling, the processing speed of test loadings increased, performance of replication of data increased, the controllability of IT infrastructure of a test environment improved and costs on its service were reduced.

And in this project – the solution of a problem of upgrade came not at once. Though need for the new platform existed for a long time, the suitable offer from producers was not. With the advent of DWH of Storwize V7000 we estimated opportunities, technical and organizational perspectives of its use for Home Credit Bank. Our forecasts were confirmed with testing in the center of examination of IBM.
