Management of the Federal mail service of the city of Moscow becomes virtualized

The LANIT company increased controllability and reliability of IT infrastructure of the Management of a Federal Mail Service (MFMS) of the city of Moscow of implementing solution on the Microsoft Hyper-V platform, the press service of integrator reported on February 27, 2013.

The Moscow UFPS decided to upgrade IT infrastructure because of impossibility to manage on a centralized basis accounts of users and IT resources, because of the absence of uniform the politician and standards in scales of all organization and also inconvenience and insufficient transparency of work of end users with network resources and corporate services.

Implementation

The command of department of corporate infrastructure of department of network integration of LANIT inspected IT infrastructure of the central office and branches, detected technical restrictions, revealed key needs of the customer in the field of information technologies. Collected information became a basis for design of the updated IT infrastructure.

In the project the Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization platform is used.

Victor Bulgakov, the associate director on UFPS technologies of Moscow, noted: "We pay much attention to improvement of technology processes for improvement of quality of customer service. Optimization of internal network infrastructure – as at our central office where there is a Management personnel, and in general on the Moscow region, – allowed to get access to network resources and to use a video conferencing. It considerably increases production efficiency, providing higher rates of processing and exchange of mail".

During the project several tasks are solved: the failsafe network core is constructed and failsafe solutions on functioning of communication channels L3 VPN and the Internet in management personnel of UFPS of Moscow are implemented; are unrolled a system audio-, video both web conferences on the Microsoft Lync 2010 platform and a management system for jobs of users on the System Center Configuration Manager 2007 platform.

The control system of Internet access (traffic filtering) is in addition implemented by the solution Microsoft Forefront TMG 2010, are constructed a uniform Directory service (AD) on the MS Windows Server 2008 R2 platform and uniform postal service Exchange Server 2010. Migration of users and computers in management personnel and interdistrict post offices is carried also out to a common information space of UFPS of Moscow.

"We were faced by a problem of complex upgrade of IT infrastructure for implementation of new services taking into account technological limits on the customer. The large-scale project covering an extensive network of departments of a mail service across all Moscow was executed in the planned terms. The solutions proposed by us fully consider current demands of the organization and give opportunities for further information technology development", - Oleg Kuznetsov, the head of department of corporate infrastructure of department of network integration of LANIT emphasized.
