The SPbSU completes upgrade InformSystems on the IBM Power server platform

St. Petersburg State University (SPbSU) and IBM announced on February 28, 2013 project completion on implementation of the IBM POWER server platform.

Background

The innovation way of development determined by "Strategy-2020" sets for the system of higher education a task of quality improvement of educational services at the level of international standards. Its implementation is possible only on condition of preserving of personnel potential and effective financing of the advanced research projects. Solving this problem, SPbSU, the oldest university of Russia and the largest research center of the country, faced growth of costs and decrease in effective management of personnel management processes and payroll, and InformSystems the management of university decided to assign work as the general to a hardware platform of IBM POWER.

"Reliability and high performance of IT infrastructure is a critical factor of each project in scales of such educational institution as SPbSU, – Ilya Gorubnov, CIO of St. Petersburg State University noted. – The IBM POWER platform guarantees decrease in TSO and effective work of a new system of accounting of the personnel and payroll. Return of investments in the amount of 300 million rubles for the last few years became significant result of this project".
