The Netberg company integrator performed implementation of DWH of Netapp - FAS3210 in Baltika bank, the press service of the company reported on March 25, 2013.

Background

Earlier in bank the automated banking system of Diasoft where all data were stored on servers was used. The management made the decision to implement from scratch the selected storage system, for the maximum confidence in reliability, providing at the same time data protection and easy management with them. A choice is made for benefit of a storage system of Netapp.

Not less important task represented creation of reliable DWH for processing of backup copies, increases in speed of their creation and reduction of recovery time of data. Besides, the customer was going to carry out consolidation of data on DWH, virtualization of servers for the purpose of cost optimization and ensuring the same fault tolerance.

Solution

Pilot implementation and stress testing helped the customer to be defined by the solution. Together with employees of IT department of bank a system was implemented on a permanent basis. Process took no more than five days, at the same time neither employees, nor clients of bank noticed any failures in work of systems or problems in receiving services.

For solving of tasks FAS3210 storage system with the Data ONTAP 8.0.2 operating system is selected.

For security and safety of the database of bank transferred from servers to DWH of Netapp. For data which remained on servers backup copies using software of Syncsort Backup Express were made.

Result

  • Significantly energy consumption decreased
  • TSO decreased by 60%
  • Time of deployment and time of testing of all systems decreased more than by 10 times
  • At transfer of a system of Diasoft on DWH of Netapp in bank achieved performance improvement of this system approximately for 20-25%
  • Snapshot technologies allow to recover data in minutes and even seconds.
