The Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation changes OS

Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation installed on the PC in classes and in workplaces of employees Windows 8 and Office 365, the press service of the company reported Microsoft on April 22, 2013.

Preparation

In 2012 the Financial university integrated with the All-Russian correspondence financial and economic institute, the All-Russian state tax academy and the State university of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation that resulted in need of creation of a new system of communications between users.

"Due to significant growth of number of servers and jobs in the course of consolidation of the Financial university with three other universities loading of department of system administration which is responsible for all networks, servers and network services seriously grew. To us the simple and fast solution which would allow to provide users with the integrated communications was required", - Yury Bykov, the deputy head of department of IT infrastructure of the Financial university emphasized.

Implementation

Windows 8 also Office 365 were easily integrated into the IT infrastructure of the university constructed based on solutions of Microsoft. Project implementation took three months.

"We are going to transfer gradually all jobs from Windows 7 on Windows 8. A pilot project of Microsoft VDI - Virtual Desktop Infrastructur unrolled in several classes we think to extend to all campus in which the faculty of applied mathematics and information technologies is located. Further we are going to transfer 90% of users for technology of virtual desktops, having provided, including, the accessibility to educational and administrative services from personal devices", – Vladimir Solovyov, the director of information technology of the Financial university told.

Sergey Martsynkyan, the promotions manager of operating systems of Windows, Microsoft in Russia told: "The opinion on our products of young users, future professionals is very important for us. It is sure that Windows 8 will be the effective working tool for the staff of university, and to students the new operating system will allow to master new knowledge easily and with pleasure. Cooperation of Microsoft and Financial university on it is not graduated, in the long term – implementation of other innovation projects".
